I hear Correa is going back to the Twins. Taking a crazy pay cut. But this is a smart move by the Mets, in fact, the move always felt forced to me.

On the Mets reddit page I see they wanted him to take an annual physical, which was a smart move.

Another silver lining is also they are sticking with their younger talent and original strategy. They only wanted short-term deals via FA.
I am a big fan of Correa and what he would have done this upcoming season in particular would have been special but glad the Mets not being suckers and/or desperate.

Glad the Mets stuck to their guns and only ended up offering 6. Machado is a free agent next year and there's no medical issues with him.

If they still feel the need for offense, this would be a good time to pivot and make a deal with Pittsburgh for Bryan Reynolds. His numbers are equivalent to Correa and he won't cost any real money for another 3 years. Let canha be the 4th outfielder/DH and we can get rid of ruff. Reynolds also doesn't come with the medical baggage and is younger

I thought I read that Reynolds would gut our system because of the # of control years that Pitt has.

It would cost a lot, but I wouldn't trade Alvarez. They can have whatever else they want from the minors. I doubt that the other players we have on the farm will end up as good as Reynolds currently is
