50 could've released Illmatic and it wouldn't have mattered at that point. His career was based on belittling his peers and he often used sales to justify his W's. Well, Game and Ross applied pressure. There was also Cam. It wasn't looking for 50 Cent from '06 forward. Ross should've been ended. As dope as Deeper Than Rap was, Ross was declining. It should've been nothing for 50 to end him. What happens? Ross not only walks away unscathed, but becomes one of the biggest rappers in the game. Dude even got a Dre feature when 50 was complaining that Dre wouldn't mix his records. And there's this:

rap battles don't end careers unless entities higher than the rappers get involved.

50 cent becoming a gangsta-pop rapper, and dropping weak albums on top of that, is what eventually ruined his draw. then continuously pissing off jimmy iovine was the end of it.

Kanye on def jam

def jam & interscope are both under the universal umbrella.

Was this the beginning of the "Agenda"push?

nah.

the months leading up to college dropout, where the media crowned kanye off of one song, was the beginning of the agenda push.

Nah he didn't end ish but it did marked the shift from Gangsta Rap to more...idk hoe to call it. Pop Rap? Watered down Rap?

but the bolded is what 50 cent was already making himself.

that's why I'm saying, that sales battle didn't mark the end or beginning of anything.

the same ja rule that when 6 and 5 times platinum :laff: 50 made ja rules persona look soft before that ja was on top of the world stop it
no one could have ended ja except 50...
You're not making any sense. Think about it; If 50 is the sole reason for why people perceived Ja Rule as "soft" or "fake" than how come people weren't calling Ja soft in 99-2000? Remember, the first series of diss tracks 50 put out towards Ja was in 99, yet, no one was calling Ja a p*ssy or a pop artist in 99. You can't claim A caused B, if I can point to a clear case where A exist, yet B is no where to be found. Sorry, it just doesn't make sense.

no one could have ended ja except 50... if ja left people had to replace him with something 50 was that replacement he clowned ja but dropped 21 questions so the girls could come to 50 for that now

nah. buddy is right.

I said the same exact thing in that jarule thread.

ja was a sitting duck with no real rap fanbase at the time. just 95% fickle commercial listeners who will leave you hanging at the drop of a dime.

even when 50 chased the crossover, he was still big enough before then to keep a large amount of diehard fans for life. while jarule's VVV album was popular, he wasn't THAT popular back then. nowhere near.
