because 50 wasnt out in 99-2000 50 made it cool to call ja soft
I absolutely don't buy that garbage argument at all. You make it seem like 50 was a non-entity at the time. He hadn't dropped an LP when How To Rob came out in 99, yet it still garnered substantial attention. Matter of fact, the record was impactful enough that well-known rappers at the time like Big Pun took notice and retaliated on wax. And again, 50 didn't drop a tape in 2000 either, but the jabs he threw towards Jay on Be A Gentleman were significant enough that Jay-z decided to address them. Also, if it is true that the explanatory variable here is 50's popularity being at the right level later on, than why wasn't 50 able to alter the public perception regarding Fat Joe, Jadakiss, and the Game off his word alone like you say he did with Your logic CLEARLY can't make sense of that challenge.

No, the point you're now raising is just noise to the avoid the obvious explanation which is that Ja's change in musical direction after his first album is what's responsible for creating the stigma of him being "soft", but you want to deny that out of bias for 50 and his abilities, which has no place in a discussion about historical events. In reality, anybody who lived thru that era knows that what 50 was saying about Ja was already on the minds of the male audience base, which is why 50's attacks stuck in 02-03 but not in 99-2000.

nikka went on 106 and was screaming 50 while he was on the couch :laff: that was the most disrespectful shyt

you mustve been a casual at the time.

50 made it cool for kids & casuals to clown jarule. but hip-hop fans were already dissin jarule long beforehand.

jarule was arguably the most hated rapper in the game, before 50 cent even became a star. 106th & park was not the epicenter of hip-hop at all breh. its been a glorified kids show since year two.

and since those casual listeners were the vast majority of jarule's fanbase at a time when legitimacy still mattered, any respected rapper could've came thru and crushed his character.

What?! Are we having two different conversations here. When, in any of my post, do I make the explicit claim that Ja being perceived as "soft" hurt his popularity among females? You have obviously grossly misunderstood my argument; my main point is that the stigma of Ja being "soft" existed in the consciousness of the culture before 50 pointed it out on record. Therefore, its silly to say that 50 could have ended Ross if he attacked him like he did Ja, since it wasn't really 50's talent that made the diss records so effective in the first place. It was the established reputation that the target in question already had attached to him that made the diss records work so well.

What is your actual point? Did Ja coincidentally start declining when 50 came out? Yes or no?, did 50 outsell Ja over their careers, yes or no?

Kanye didn't end his music career.

Though for sure it was the first major L, in a long line of major Ls, that Curly would take in Hip Hop.

If you are wondering why hes still trolling Ja Rule it's just like by Al Bundy keeps talking about that one game for Polk High where he scored 4 touch downs. Neither won anything after so they keep repeating the same lines.

Dude, that post you're quoting is from a year ago...

But based on a quick re-threading, my core point at the time was that the idea that 50 would've crushed Ross if he just dissed him like he did Ja was false.

Did Ja coincidentally start declining when 50 came out? Yes or no?, did 50 outsell Ja over their careers, yes or no?
No one is or has questioned what the results were from 50 attacking Ja. The question was why were those attacks so effective. The answer to that determines if the diss rick ross like ja argument had any merit.

Jay started it , but then 50 started talking about sales and next thing you know that was the main argument in rap discussions :snoop:

Me: Nah I think Nas better than 50

Breh at school : Who sales more records?:stopitslime:
