I don't think people remember how horrible of a situation idzik came into.

We were over the cap,had little talent, Tim Tebow,a bunch of horrible contracts, being instructed to unload revis, had rex forced on him etc.

Idzik entire first year was just cleaning up the mess Tanny left.

I don't think he was even a mediocre gm,but he definitely got railroaded in his short time here. I still feel like he wanted to cheap out and tank to get rex fired so he could get his own coach and have a shyt ton of cap for said coach.

Ultimately most of his draft picks didn't work out and thats a major problem when you want to build through the draft. Good plan, bad execution

Macc basically got to reap all the benefits that idzik sowed. No bad contracts, tons of cap,own coach, high draft picks.
Exactly.

Idzik was following orders. He was told not to spend. We all knew this. He should have made up for it by drafting well....something he fell woefully short at

How long we gonna rehash these geno-fitz arguments :francis:

Unless fitz gets hurt geno ain't starting. It's over. No point in debating about it.

And unless Fitz gets hurt and then geno lights it up geno will be gone end of the season.

Geno will get another chance on another team. You best believe teams have been watching him.close these days to see how he acts.

He's shown maturity, desire to be better and said all the right things.

He will go be a back up for someone next year and get a chance down the line.

I'd rather move on with Geno and if he sucks, Petty. This is a time waster

That's a completely fair take on it.

No it wasn't, you're fronting completely. Geno averaged 6.5 yards per completion in a game that the Jets trailed the whole time. That's because they went with a bunch of safe play calls. They PROTECTED HIM. It ain't a lie, you're just biased as hell which is the only way someone could point at 1 play in a game then think they proved something about the playcalling throughout the course of the entire game. SMFH

I ain't "add" the other stuff, it was in the initial post you quoted. You ignored it because you can't refute it. And you'll keep ducking it because it doesn't fit your narrative.

No, @NYC Rebel is right. Geno's 6.5 yards per completion came from his tendency to throw short after coming in on short notice, not from Gailey's playcalling. Geno wasn't protected. He threw and completed more balls in the Raider's game than Fitz typically does. The best way to measure whether Gailey protected Geno is to measure Geno's air yards per attempt last year relative to Fitzs:

Geno Air Yards Per Attempt: 4.31
Fitz Air Yards Per Attempt: 3.78
source: Quarterback Air Yards: 2015 NFL Season

So the data says Geno threw more deep than Fitz overall. Gailey doesn't "protect" QBs by giving them more deep throws. That's preposterous.

Bruh, I don't front about Fitz not being able to throw down field well. Geno's whole argument against Fitz is that he can make throws that Fitz can't. What good is that if the OC doesn't trust him to make those throws?

Passing to a TE in the end zone is risky now? FOH

This is flat out bias fam, you been caping so hard for Geno that you got yourself convinced Woody made the Fitz signing happen. It's gettin' to be a headache having to watch cats whine about Geno every time I'm in this thread. He's had every opportunity to earn his shot and nobody in the organization trusts him. It's so bad that a journeyman with a year or two left who everyone acknowledges is mediocre has a stranglehold on the starting QB role. Wake up, he just ain't good yet (stressing yet, he can be good and I'm rooting for that ish but he's obviously not there).

You're arguing from a faulty premise. Gailey does trust Geno to make throws can't. We saw it in the Raiders game whereupon Geno completed deep more and had a higher Air Yards Per Attempt than Fitz's average. We saw in the last preseason game whereupon Geno threw open a blanketed Peake. Geno will end up as our QB or else we'll fail again.

If woody wanted him so bad so did Brandon Marshall. :yeshrug:

And Bowles and most likely Gailey. Probably Revis. Decker for sure etc

Why is it so hard to believe none of the front office or players have faith in Geno?

Both seasons he was a full starter he did nothing until a game or two at the end of each season mostly against teams playing for nothing.

I can't point to any qb and find good games. Blaine Gabbert had a few great games last year and we know he's ass

Let it go Geno is a journeyman qb who will be holding clipboards for years. He's not the answer

Gabbert never showed Geno's promise. Moreover other QBs came in and outperformed Gabbert in the same situations, which implies the problem was Gabbert in his environment. That so far hasn't happened to Geno so people reasonably still hold out hope. If the Front Office puts the ball into Fitz's hands over Geno, we're wasting a season. Might as well try Geno and then Petty.
