Studies show atheists are more prone to depression and kill themselves at a higher rate then people who believe in God. You already are talking like a depressed individual. Making excuses as to why you cant do this and you cant do that. I just told you to read the book of proverbs and Corinthians. Those books are filled with knowledge that will speak to whatever you are going through in life friend.

You have to excercise more. Also, get back in touch with more of your family members and spend more time with people that love you and spend time being around them.

"Every day, there is more and more evidence," says Harvard Medical School psychiatrist John J. Ratey, MD, the author of Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain. "There are very good placebo control studies comparing antidepressants and exercise, and the effect on mood is the same."

In one 2005 study conducted by researchers at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, 30 minutes of moderately intense exercise five days a week reduced symptoms of depression by nearly half after 12 weeks.

Although Ratey holds that exercise is an effective treatment for depression, that doesn’t mean he thinks that all patients should give up their medication or talk therapy in favor of working out.

"I’m not opposed to medication," he says. "And when someone is very depressed, you want everything going [to treat that person]."

You seem to be big on science, perhaps you should become brolic and then tell me if you're still depressed instead of giving up so quickly, friend.

:ld:

I've already read that sh1t and it was cool but I feel like for me personally as a demon.... the only kind of religious philosophy that really helps me sometimes is Zen Buddhist. Proverbs just never did much for me (even when I wasn't a demon) But it does seem to work for other people. However It's "inspirational" text felt like basic generic common sense.

Alan Watts hits my G spot tho ....no homo :ahh:

I'll test it out (working out) and let u know how I feel next Tuesday.

Got that Insanity workout dvd lying around the crib but never bothered watching it cause video games just seemed more interesting to me than working out, I'll give it a try tho

I was lightweight joking, but what I really meant was mind over matter. Pretty much just have a positive mindframe about shyt. Don't let negative thoughts consume you, that could lead you down a dangerous path.

Stuff in life is what it is, it simply just doesn't make sense to get all depressed about shyt or to let anxiety fukk up your quality of life.

That article ain't groundbreaking. Of course you don't need medicine for this shyt. The people on the medicine for feeling sad are the ones tripping.

A lot of people don't understand when people say they're depressed and they've actually been diagnosed as depressed it's not just being sad for a while.

shyt can spiral in a way that'll end up affecting each and every part of your life. I can say that learning to accept things for what they are may help but some things you can't help but let creep up on you.

:lawd:

I fukkING HATE PEOPLE WHO SAY "JUST THINK POSITIVE" OR "IT COULD BE WORSE" :what:

Like this shyt is a chemical imbalance in the brain...this shyt cant be controlled that easy :whoa:

my shyt is starting to effect me at work and in more ways than it used to

fukk depression :pacspit:

great thread.

i might be wrong but i feel like sometimes we're even attached to the pain and sadness as fukked up as it sounds. Like you could think "one day this won't matter to me as much" but at the same time you're scared of that day coming because then it'll mean that it's over without you getting the outcome you desire. Eventhough this will be a Win in the future, while you think about it in the present, you view it as a Loss. At least in the present you feel like you can still make the L into a W and it "reassures" you (but it's unhealthy). that's what i mean by being attached to the pain...

As someone whos struggled with depression for 20 plus years ive found that people just dont understand what its like.

all that think positive stuff doesnt work for someone suffering severe depression.

the thing people dont understand is your brain doesnt operate the same way a depressed brain does. When you have depression, you can talk to 59 people in one day. 58 of them can compliment you,and 1 can insult you. A depressed brain will literally disregard the 58 people and focus on that 1 because it renforces what youre feeling.

what really bothers me is the ignorance people have when calling someone who commits suicide selfish. People just dont get it.

2-3 doses of 5-HTP a day. It's a vitamin supplement that helps with your mood and improves sleep patterns. Hope this helps, buddy. :myman:

yeah im sure reading a long ass pack of fairy tales like the bible will fix your mood

It's harder to face reality and think for yourself breh. If you can give up your reasoning ability and put your faith into those fairy tales, it'll make the world around you easier to stomach. This is why dirt poor people are always religous, they don't wanna go through their shyt life and just have it up and end without any incentive. So they put their faith into those fairy tales to feel like there's some light at the end of the tunnel, or that they'll be rewarded for their faith.

Standing on your own two feet and thinking for yourself is hard breh. So I absolutely believe religous people are less prone to depression because at the end of the day, they buy those fairy tales and think they'll recieve some special treatment or reward at the end of their life.:ld:

Real talk I became a hoe because I felt it would fill some void in my life. For the most part it's working.

Another way is to find a hobby or job that takes up most of your time.

On a certain level, you control your own thoughts. You dont control what pops into yourhead but you can control whther or not you dwell on it or shift mind somewhere else.

Alot of people just let their mind wander and do whatever it wants.

It's not easy to be concious of ur thoughts, but it can be done.

I love this lady and this video. Watch it.

u just don't realize how hard that sh1t is to do tho b

I can't unlearn the fact that I learned it's bullsh1t.

But do u have to believe that the bible is 100% true to get something positive/inspirational out of it?

:dwillhuh:

I don't think so, most Buddhist don't actually believe or care about whether Buddha really existed or not. It's irrelevant to them. They simply find the teaches practical and follow them because they agree with them.

I've been inspired/motivated by some Star Trek episodes also.

I think most people (myself included) simply brush any wisdom the bible has aside because there are idiots all around us who think it's literal history. (which I don't think the original writers of the text intended for it to be)..........and we just want to separate ourselves from those shyttards

I think once mankind becomes more sophisticated intellectually in the distant future and all religion is viewed as myths in the same way we see Greek Gods today then Christianity and Islam will be more embraced by the secular world, not as a historical true text, but as an alternative philosophy that obtains some practical wisdom told through stories. Similar to how folks view Greek Mythology today.

I'm gonna keep it all the way real - I am depressed as fukk.

I had a job (washing dishes :scusthov:), worked it, hated it, so I quit. But the one thing I liked about it is that I was always busy so I really never had time to think about shyt. So I quit the job, because in my mind I figured that it would give me mad time to do a bunch of shyt... but three weeks later I find myself constantly bored, trying to find shyt to do to fill up my day. And now I want a fukking job and can't seem to get hired.

Then I get lonely and shyt because I spend most of the day by myself. So I go out to bars or whatever, but then I get even more depressed when I am there because I don't really actually LIKE people. Or if I have a good night at the bar, I am mad at myself the next morning for spending too much money (that I really can't afford to spend). And despite the fact that I really don't get anything out of going to the bar, and I always end up saddened by it either during my time there or the next morning, I still go EVERY fukking night. And I don't know why. :wtf:

Add to the fact that while I KNOW a lot of people around my area, I don't actually have any close friends, or people that I could call up to talk to or just hang out with. I just happen to be cool with all of the regulars at the bars, gyms, etc., that I frequent.

Hell, even when I have sex (which is not nearly often enough), after I nut I'm right back to the sadness. :to:

I need to maybe see a therapist but I really can't find one; plus, I don't want to spend money on some shyt that MIGHT work but might not work.

Damn, just had to vent, y'all. :sadcam:
