The lord saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The lord was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. So the LORD said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them."

Genesis 6:5

This is what the Lord Almighty says... ‘Now go and strike Amalek and devote to destruction all that they have. Do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.

1 Samuel 15:3

Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the cruel.

1 Peter 2:18

If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity.

Deuteronomy 25:11-12

Those are just verses off the dome..but I don't really put much into the bible, i much rather have conversations with God through prayer. The bible is imperfect, mistranslated, edited...it would be a sin to take anything from that book and apply it to perfection that is our God. And do you honestly think God needs a book to teach his children?

this also helps me. gym and ipod be working :whew:

the mind is powerful. i just keep busy and avoid thinking.

but idle time does me in

An idle mind can truly be the devil's workshop if you are not careful..

Set some minor goals for yourself that you could be easily motivated to accomplish and find some people that you can be sociable with that are truly good company..

Being in the presence of good people throughout the day should help your mood tremendously...

Fill your mind with as much positive energy as you can...This shouldn't be a sporadic exercise, but done daily.

Changing your mindset is gonna take time and is always gonna be a work in progress...

Real shyt breh, there is so many different iterations of the bible, so many different holy books, interpretations and translations. Yet if you follow the wrong book you'll be damned to hell and not to mention the hells of the other books you did not bother with. You gotta search within yourself breh, God is more than some man-made book and simple textual understanding.

IMO the breath of God is within us from the start and its our job to search ourselves for the good he placed in us. There is no such thing as the devil, only the lack of awareness and compassion. Just pray on it and practice on being a man God is guiding you to be...don't ignore those gut feelings when you do right or wrong..it is him doing his work. Thats what i believe...

:shake:

Good luck friend.

Honestly man, you just gotta realize that EVERYTHING is temporary. I suggest meditation. You may need to go the extreme route like Vipassana. The retreats are free.

Vipassana

^^^That's near you.

Good article about it: Men's Journal Magazine - Men's Style, Travel, Fitness and Gear

I'm actually thinking about doing it real talk. If you serious about freeing your mind and have 10 free days, I don't see why not.

kinda depressed right now and unfortunately I don't have the luxury of believing in God

any more suggestions?

The Bible(in particular Proverbs/Corinthians) They really do a good job at breaking down the game of life. If you master this knowledge you will no longer be depressed.

Tom a big part of your problem, and this is just my opinion obviously is that you're demonic. You have to understand friend that you cannot be demonic and expect to get the rewards of the righteous. Being demonic puts you in peril. Being demonic is what the devil uses to demoralize you to a state that you are unworthy of God and his good graces. This is something we should be avoiding friend. You cannot win being evil. Material things dont equate to happiness. It just seems like it does, when you dont have anything. Without God you are nothing. Please start reading those 2 bible books and i promise your psychology on demons will be come so advances depression will probably flee from your mind.

If not, combine that with that brazillian jiujitsu and obtain a true band of brothers in combat. You have to put some time and effort and discipline into learning something that puts you on another tier of dedication friend. Please find a new hobby besides video games and demonic trolling on the internet. There are other ways to win, friend. Good luck like the lottery.

I feed the poor, I help others, I'm nice to people, I don't cheat, I don't steal, I'm peaceful and haven't been in a physical fight since HS. The only demonic thing I'm guilty of is denying the Abrahamic God's existence and accepting evolution as fact. (and occasional Coli trolling here and there)

other than that I'm a good person b :ehh:

and I know plenty of religious people who are depressed/ commit suicide breh so I don't think religion alone is enough to combat depression.

People say exercise helps but I don't really see how, whenever I work out I feel extremely tired and just want to sleep afterwards. Maybe that's the point and sleeping cures depression?

:ld:

I'm no expert but from my personal experience depression seems to come from an over analytical mind......simply thinking too much....about yourself, your environment or something that happened to you or someone you know (if ur the empathetic type that absorbs other's emotional pain)..... ...and the best way to combat that is drinking/hard drugs unfortunately

Would caution against the 'just ignore it/be stronger then it' technique, it's basically repression, which will crumble over time, over the last few years, it's happened to me. Just covered up/dealt with a lot of insecurity, depression, various shyt like that, with working a lot, buying clothes/shoes, going out to eat at expensive restaurants, and I still do, but eventually it catches up to you, and you really feel that depression and anxiety seep into you 10x worse the it ever was, happened to me recently.

Studies show atheists are more prone to depression and kill themselves at a higher rate then people who believe in God. You already are talking like a depressed individual. Making excuses as to why you cant do this and you cant do that. I just told you to read the book of proverbs and Corinthians. Those books are filled with knowledge that will speak to whatever you are going through in life friend.

You have to excercise more. Also, get back in touch with more of your family members and spend more time with people that love you and spend time being around them.

"Every day, there is more and more evidence," says Harvard Medical School psychiatrist John J. Ratey, MD, the author of Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain. "There are very good placebo control studies comparing antidepressants and exercise, and the effect on mood is the same."

In one 2005 study conducted by researchers at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, 30 minutes of moderately intense exercise five days a week reduced symptoms of depression by nearly half after 12 weeks.

Although Ratey holds that exercise is an effective treatment for depression, that doesn’t mean he thinks that all patients should give up their medication or talk therapy in favor of working out.

"I’m not opposed to medication," he says. "And when someone is very depressed, you want everything going [to treat that person]."

You seem to be big on science, perhaps you should become brolic and then tell me if you're still depressed instead of giving up so quickly, friend.
