The Paul brothers have done crazier things. Fighting another actual boxer would be huge for their brand, even if they lose. If they can get some clout and a payday, then why wouldn't they?

Fighting an active heavyweight champion with over 40 professional knockouts is not the same as fighting a retired MMA fighter

Or a welterweight 40+ year old Floyd Mayweather

In round 4, yes. But rounds 5-11 Fury scored 2 knockdowns, Wilder was on wobbly legs and getting beaten from pillar to post.
I would argue that he wasn't in the fourth. The first knock down he got rocked but watching the onslaught in replay at the in of the round you can see that Fury was blocking and dodging, and looked like he recovered fully. Fury mentions in the post fight that he wasn't hurt

I'm not torn up about this at all. Wilder showed A TON of heart in their and for that I give him so much respect and admiration despite the KO loss. He really wanted it badly. Fury is the man.

Their is a great movie to be made about Wilder. Most boxing greats are child prodigies. He started boxing age 20-21. Medaled in the Olympics and has made a heck of a boxing career out of this. Can't wait to see it.
Wilder isi literally that big nikka you see working at Burger King, where you say "what the fukk is he doing here? :dahell:. He could be Heavyweight champion :why:" and then that guy actually goes out and does it. That is literally what happened with Wilder. A truly American dream story.

I'm listening to a few boxing podcasts with hof voters since last night's fight. I don't think Wilder's hall of fame status is as complete as I thought it was. I was listening to Chris Mannix talk to Sergio Mora and he said that he doesn't think Wilder is in the hall of fame. I think he's going to be looked at in the Sven Ottke vein of padded records for the most part.

So on and so on. You can't keep hitting game winners your entire career, also to mention when the legitimate step up in competition happened, this is what happened. Now that I think about it, I think that the fight gives more finality to how we can judge Wilder and eliminates a lot of the mental 'What Ifs' that we could do with a lot of others and ultimately, I think that is bad for him because he is going to be viewed more for his limitations than for anything else. I said that I thought Wilder would get in the hall due to accomplishments, I'm not sure anymore.

Say what you want about both guys, but they left it all in the ring last night. Hell of a fight. 1 of my favorite HW fights in a long time.

Which is ironic because you had so many people that didn't want this fight, many people angry we didn't Fury/Joshua for all the belts. Yet I have a feeling that fight wouldn't have been as good or as entertaining as this fight :heh:

More irony: The reason that Fury and Wilder even agreed to fight in the 1st place was because they were using each other to gain leverage and get a better offer for a fight with Joshua. 3 years and 3 fights later, both these guys raised their profile to a level that I don't think either would have gotten off just fighting AJ.

Funny how boxing works sometimes :obama:

Regarding the rest of the card, I really like Sanchez but why those Cubans all look old though :russ:Anyway, really like man's boxing and movement. I hope he wont disappoint me like Ortiz. For Ajagba, I hope it's not too much of a set back, he still has good power and his technique is solid. He just needs to improve his boxing IQ and work on a plan B and C in case he gets deprived of his right hand.

I also liked Coceres for giving the younger fighter a good lesson in craftiness. Hopefully Berlanga learns from this to not just rely on his power. A good fight he won but where he showed shortcomings.

J-Rock smh. Dude started off very well but inexplicably switched off at some point. Maybe the pressure and body work got to him ? Like his corner couldnt reach him to get him to throw, really disappointing. Did he got gun shy after the Banana KO ? Dude was going back and forth with Hurd I dont get it, but he is now clearly in limbo. Maybe a Lubin fight ?

Kownacki is a damn embarrassement. Dude reached the level he did only because of good cardio. Dude is flabby af, has 0 technique or ring IQ and is losing to Helenius who is the gatekeeper of the top 20 at best. And now he's known as a dirty fighter because he didnt have the balls to give up on the stool so he aimed for a DQ smh.
Props to Helenius though because he fought his fight.

Seems like Wilder had a game plan of keeping fury from pressing forward with stiff jabs to the body but his movements with it were so exaggerated it tired him early. He was running on fumes for about 3 rounds before the finish. Fury has like 40lbs on him though, keeping someone that heavier off you is tiring af in there:manny:

I've noticed a lot Wilder fans are reacting to this loss by bringing up Joshua and trashing him - kinda strange. Always found it interesting how Wilder fans have hated Joshua the most out of everyone - even more so than Fury.
It’s not Wilder fans it’s the natural collision course set by boxing media :yeshrug:

He started late...of course he's devoid of the skill range of Canelo, Spence, Crawford, De la hoya. That's the gimmick of Wilder..he got this far and was a 5 year reigning champion with limited ability. Not just is that impressive but it's amazing.

And keep in mind..as much as Fury is skilled and is the best, who has he fought except the aging Klitchko and Wilder. You're so happy Wilder lost, you don't even realize that and he almost got knocked out by this limited motherfukker, right? The game is the game.

Honestly, I'm actually just very happy I saw a great fight.

Just finished watching.

- Those cac announcers couldn't even hide that they are Fury nut gobblers :scust:
- Lennox should not be a commentator, he hasn't improved all these years.
- Wilder has lots of heart, I admire that about him. Not sure if this loss wont be a major blow to his mental state as a fighter going forward :francis:
- Fury sure knows how to use his huge body to his advantage. He was leaning on wilder all night and tiring the shyt out of him, and wilder unfortunately does not have the footwork to escape that dirty tactic.
- Overall this fight was mighty entertaining.

What yall gotta say now about Malik Scott as a trainer?
