@Mantis Toboggan M.D.

Look at this list and tell me how it makes you feel :sadcam: I highlighted a few who i dont feel could hold Dion or JJ's jockstrap and those are just the ones i know.
I mean the market is set for the average player still in their primes and able to contribute when healthy. It's not like the Heat had much of a choice since they thought they would at least compete for playoffs with this roster after the streak. Sure, hindsight is 20/20 but Sometimes a team pays a player based on HIS VALUE TO THAT TEAM, not his market value. We paid Dion market Value. Think we paid JJ Team value.

This is ordered by annual salary, BTW

Paying Hassan was not the problem. Our coach treating him like Joel Anthony by refusing to play him, run sets for him, and blaming him for his own faults until he stopped playing hard because he doesn’t care anymore is the problem. The KO, JJ, and Waiters deals though :snoop:. KO is a guy who’s skill set is valuable on any team but we paid him like a star and not a role player :snoop:

I dont understand this, so we also dont remember how SOFT hassan is??? any little injury and dude was gone for weeks, but ok, we all being mad revisionist with the All Star Hassan Whiteside

He is our MAX player and I dont even remember ONE meaningful game hassan had for us (under his max contract) except maybe the triple double he had in Denver about 2 years ago.

you guys keep saying this but tanking has worked for nobody. Even the team ya'll love to prop up as the poster for tanking has advanced no further in the playoffs than we have the last 3-4 years. There's nothing wrong with continuing to develop internally and biding your time.
I can agree with this but what do you propose?

To me, we should trade everyone not names Bam, IMO but i know that's not gonna happen. I'm willing to live with Justise's and J-Rich's contracts because they arent bad deal. Everyone else can hit the road if we find takers. From there on just rebuild via draft in the meantime until we can attract Star FAs. The one veteran i wouldnt mind keeping would be either Olynyk or James Johnson but NOT BOTH.

Whiteside is a teams 3rd best player at best but we paid him like a #1 because we were desperate. That made him further believe he was a #1 and started acting like he can do as he pleases and not be checked like he was a LeBron level player. Prompting Spo to reel him in. But yes we grossly overpaid Hassan.

Olynyk's contact isn't top level pay. We paid him like an average player in his prime. Believe it or not $12M is what average tier players in the league are getting in long term deals these days. Just look around the league at players making $11M to $15M per year and you'll realize you've never heard of these cats. I live in Atlanta. Look up Kent Bazemore. I'm sure you're like "who?" Well the mofo is making $17M per year with the Hawks. Plenty more scrubs like him getting paid...
We're in the wrong business,brehs:sadcam:

Dion and James Johnson's contracts were mistakes. I like JJ and I'm not that mad at the per year salary ($14M per) but we should not have gone more than 2 years on those contracts since we knew damn well these 2 were stop-gap players until Bustise gets his head out of his ass and is able to show he was worth the pre-draft hype and J-Rich is able to take over at the SG spot full-time

The worst part is Hassan would have been perfect on the HEATLES squads. They were crying out for a rim protector and roll man. We signed Birdman's ghost and went on a 23 game winning streak:russ:. Hassan swatting everything that moves, getting open alleyoops and dunks, Lebron Wade, Battier, and Bosh ready to cover in case he gets beat on the perimeter :mjcry:. Alas. what could have been....

Brooklyn showed the way,be patient, stay flexible, and wait for someone to need to erase a mistake with your cap space.

Problem is this time we're the ones with the mistakes. Tho Brooklyn had their own cap cloggers (KG) but it took a loooong time for them to even start the turn around

The problematic contracts are coming to an end, just have to be patient. There’s nobody I view as a must have at #13, I’d be willing to package a contract with that to move down later in the first, or possibly a first + second

I agree with most of your statement but not the first sentence. From what i understand we're on the hook for Dion's, Olynyk's and Johnson's contracts for another 2 years. So that's no time soon in sports time. Barring a trade, we wont have their cap space available unto the 2021-22.

But if there is a deal to be made i'm sure Rileey will stick his nose in it somehow

As bad as his deal is, there’s definitely worse ones :heh:
Yes the salaries are crazy so that's why part of me aint mad at Riley for signing Dion Waiters for $11M per and James Johnson for $13M per. Only thing i dont like about the contracts is the amount of years (4). It should have been 2 years
