:whew: Main event was crazy

The table spot had me like Okada killed Kenny...You b*stard:damn:

It's been a while since a match had me emotionally invested like that. I couldn't sit still

:salute: I been a part time follower of NJPW. I'm fully on board now. Great match

GOAT match on this card or of all time

He gave it SIX stars so him and a lot of people said it was the greatest match ever and it "blows Taker/Michaels out the quarter"

I dont know if it is but its a good match and is excellent from like 30 minutes onwards

This was the first non-WWE card I watched from top to bottom - I left very impressed and intrigued to see more. I am definitely going to the show they're having in Long Beach this coming summer.

Show was classic. Omega/Okada might be the GOAT.

Naito/Tana woulda been a MOTYC if it wasn't for it :mjlol:

Exactly same thing for me didn't watch anything for 10+ years. Ibushi v Nakamura started my love back with wrestling. I try to watch WWE shyt but it just doesn't do it for me
Do you watch all the NJPW PPV's?

yup.

attitude era appeased to the adults who had the frat boy titties n beer shyt going. And kids who loved the quot&unquot risque shyt.

We look back and it all seems very immature, right. The trashy raunch mindset from the mid-80s survived to the mid-90s without the cocaine gloss. The Jerry Springer Era.

Nowadays, they can't fall back on that and they don't know what to do.

Smackdown got the right idea. They're really trying to bring that old feel back. Make everybody hate everybody, let them fight.

New Japan... you don't even have to know what the hell's going on. You just know Naito/KUSHIDA/Tanahashi/Ishii/Shibata/Goto/Okada/Omega about to have a match. Any combo of those wrestlers.

And you bot to be highly entertained.

Yea and when it's time for a promo to sell a ppv they don't force corny shyt like sparkle crotch. They don't get out there and try to joke their way through a promo. Wrestling isn't supposed to be funny everyone can't deliver jokes. Smackdown makes it feel like a real fight. Why is this concept so lost on raw. Wrestling will never be able to pull off the type of comedy that raw tries to do.

Regarding Okada/Omega... I find it interesting that Okada gets away with theses intrincated and endless reversals spots and gets huge praise for them but stuff like Ospray vs any flippy dude is labeled as "choreographed". To me the Okada reversals special feel pretty similar, I see it as a lot of cooperative effort :patrice:

This depresses me a bit. Not because you like it that much (that's cool), but the fact that I'm so far from feeling that way is :mjcry: to me. I want to love puro at that level again but can't do it with current New Japan.Been feeling that way since 2015 and I can't seem to shake it off.

I though Omega/Okada was like Rogue One without the emotional attachment. First act was just "there", then it starts to pick up and then the end is dope as fukk. I saw nothing "tr ascendant" about that match at all. It was borderline great to me.

Yea you are just burned out. I've been watching njpw for two years now and I don't see a problem with any of the things you have been pointing out the last year or so. As far as them being lazy or whatever, the matches are too good and they have done so much for the Indy guys who couldn't get to wwe.

You are probably right. The "lazy" stuff I always talk about is about booking the same matchups and taking soooo damn loooong to book new and interesting stuff (Naito's turn was more than 1 year late, Okada/Tana was stretched for 1 year for no good reason, Suzuki Gun stayed in NOAH for almost a year too long, never pulling the trigger on stable wars a proper invasion angle, staple for New Japan...etc.). I've never questioned the quality of wrestling but at this point it feels like when Orton and Christian fought like 20 times one year, the matches were never not good but I was just uninterested on it. Or the parallel I always do is ROH from 2008 to 2010, the matches were still great for the most part but Gabe was booking either boring shyt or rehashing stuff.

I do love that people are getting into puro so much. I don't agree with the hyperbole surrounding New Japan at all, but I'll take that over no one watching like in the 00's and early 10's.

Finally got done watching. The last three matches alone were worth getting that NJPW World, Okada vs Omega was incredible both of them brought their A game. I can't put into words how good that match was, just amazing work from both of those guys. Naito vs Tanahashi was very good. Shibata vs Goto was stiff, brutal and just plain violent. Some of those kicks and forearm shots were :scust:. Overall very good card.

Well I don't watch as much so when I see these matches it's still fresh to me and I am going to keep it that way. Also i don't even remember or ton and Christian fued but I'm sure the quality wasn't no where near as good.

On another note I don't like big stadiums for my wrestling matches at least not live. I need to see this shyt up close so I can see facial expressions and hear the stuff they are yelling. The strikes look more brutal up close and on tv. It's also easy to get distracted. I enjoyed the intros and the big fight feel especially of the last match but I think unless I'm front row I would rather watch at home.
