I thought the ending was clever. Making them give up to save Jericho and then MJF still throwing him off cause he's a piece of shyt. Much better than having someone just tap out.

That’s sound reasoning for the ending, but they’ve gotta tighten up on the camera work. Jericho looked like he fell on a purple mattress out there

It was. My only gripe with that is the angle they used to show the final spot.

This happened at Wargames 97. The Horsemen surrendered and Henning still smashed Flair in the head with the door. I seriously think it was a play off of that moment despite it being a bit meh. I would had prefer something a bit brutal and believable like MJF suffocating Jericho with a submission/weapon combo.

Beyond the god awful commercial breaks at awkward moments, I was entertained by Blood and Guts. Looking at it from a different level, I am convinced that this match will get the PPV treatment over the Dynamite treatment, because this felt like a test run to see if the crowd was going to enjoy it. Holy hell, the crowd was more amped that you would thought that Austin was structing to the ring. The feeling was restored, the match delivered despite TNT sabotaging the shyt, fukk TNT, and long live The Pinnacle :blessed:

Blood and Guts match was the only thing I watched and for the most part it was fun (it did drag on for a bit I thought when the Inner Circle was just beating the Pinnacle down for what seemed like forever while they were filling in time before the last commercial break). They should've ran all their ads earlier or Tony should've paid TNT to get this commercial free or at least air the commercials when important things aren't happening (Tully unlocking the cage, MJF climbing, etc.). And maybe they should've practiced the ending by dropping a sandbag to see how that "metal" would look like after a fall :heh: Kinda made a serious ending look silly.

But the entire heat on this feud revolves around those two guys.. who else was gonna do that spot for the dramatics?
my point is, don't have Darby fall down concrete stairs in a backstage segment for a feud no one will remember by fall, and then be afraid to risk any injury in doing a spot that has to hit.
It makes the spot look worse in juxtaposition because they're willing to have risk in places they logically shouldn't and are unwilling to book the match around a good ending you can execute well, or just be willing to let the Inner Circle rush up to catch him, have him lay them all out and keep them gone for a few weeks and then you don't need to do that shytty spot and can achieve the same thing.

Hell, it'd mean even more because it would show the Inner Circle being willing to do whatever to protect him, instead of just telling us by having Sammy give up the match.
These are foundational storytelling principles.

But...

maybe i gotta watch that back but i thought that blood & guts match was really sloppy and not all that entertaining until towards the middle/end. i liked the ending overall. that all made perfect sense to me but the match itself felt way off at times.

:patrice:Like a Wargames match...

If we looked back to the WCW wargames matches, none of them shyts were top notch quality. Lets keep it real, the matches were grimy, sloppy, and wasn't for the faint of heart. That's the reasons why Wargames were legit because it was about settling a year long feud in a battleground. Overall Blood and guts provided the following:

  • Blood
  • Violence
  • Flippy shyt for the bowys
  • Hardcore shyt for the bowys
  • Wrasslin shyt for the bowys
  • A top cage spot to end the match
I am sports entertained despite the constant hic ups:hubie:

In all fairness..... a few brehs remembered their feud years ago in other smaller companies.... so I’m sure they will remember this feud now on a bigger scale years from now :lolbron:

Also Booker of the Year was for 2020,

2021 still up for grabs:mjgrin:

It was great storytelling. I'm loving how they are using vets to build new stars like MJF and Darby.

The Jericho spot could have looked more brutal but I'd rather they overprotect a legend like Jericho instead of risking him ending his career.

That match really brought out the savage element in fans. People really wanted MJF to end Jericho like it was a roman colosseum gladiator fight:picard:. I don't want to see one of the greatest end up on Dark Side Of The Ring.

Saw the clip on Twitter and the buzz that it has created.

I can't believe in the argument is "well Jericho couldn't land on concrete". Well of course he fukking couldn't, that why you don't book a spot of someone having to fall from the top of a cage to the fukking floor :gucci: like, they couldn't do anything else? for real?? :dead: :dead:
