Latest research does suggest Europe/Siberia (based on DNA studies) for the actual domestic dogs we know today. However, man has been in contact with wolves/ancestors of domesticated dogs (who indeed seem to have originated in East Asia), for at LEAST 40.000 years since the great migration out of Africa - there was a study posted on the BBC not too long ago that it may have been been up to 140.000 years ago that our ancestors lived with wolves.
The symbiotic relationship where both parties realized each other's benefits happened independantly for Europeans/Asians/North Africans and Native Americans all thousands of years ago - Domesticated dogs popped up in North America about 9000 years ago iirc.
The actual living with dogs as 'pets' is quite recent. Asians were the first to live with dogs for reasons other than hunting (why they started breeding the small pugs and the smaller breeds). Europeans and Americans haven't been doing it for that long, honestly not sure about Africans..

european or not, in this day and age having a pet dog is some dumb shyt. any way that you cut it, its a creature you have captive in your home.

Guard dogs have a purpose still as do hunting dogs... Animals also make good companions. The relationship between man and beast keeps us aware of the fact that we share not own this world. If u have a pet u learn to see animals as more than dumb creatures, they are intelligent, loyal and affectionate.

Europens live in cold.climates so they got no choice but to bring their pets in doors, that is why it became a European tradition to have indoor pets. In warmer climates u can keep your pets out of the house no problem. Besides that difference everybody owns pets and will continue to forever...

i was not saying that dogs are an inferior species, i was saying that a captive is a captive, regardless of species. it is simple minded to believe that we can actually own another sentient being. if you truly have respect for animals you would not keep them locked in your home.

I used to have a dog and it mostly ate leftovers and bones, never sent it to the vet and it was never sick. Walk a dog
my dog roams and that dog was not in need of much human companionship coz it rolled with its dog friends.
No that does not work at all... Very simple minded again and offensive. You have man made breeds that are lap dogs and have no business living anywhere else. I'm not going to argue about the ethics of why they exist but they do and that is the only way they can live. My neighbor has a guard dog that used to howl all night when left alone outside all winter in the shed... He was lonely and needed either another dog or to be inside with his human, eventually the dog stopped howling when left to sleep inside.
Also dogs are pack animals with one leader by nature and don't like living in solitude so they often accept a human "owner" as the alpha of their pack and thus are not living as captives unless they are miss treated. Have u seen a pack of strays... They don't have better lives than "captives" lol.
Comparing a black man to a dog is just outrageous. Your on the level of pita with your arrogance and ignorance. You don't make a point by insulting and degrading human suffering then trivializing it by suggesting keeping a slave human and pet dog are on same level of injustice.
