exactly, their experience is not the same
a black man will still be a nikka to the white man when he leaves the hood but a Dominican or Puerto Rican (most of the time) can just put on nicer clothes and get a haircut and he won't be looked down on
plus, most mulatto latinos don't consider themselves black, and white people don't either
Breh,

When a Dominican or Puerto Rican or Cuban (generally) says they don't consider themselves black...what they really tend to mean is that they don't consider themselves black culturally. As in the African American black.

But there is plenty of black acknowledgement as far as color and even African history/influence in the islands.

I really can't understand why this concept isn't grasped by some members of the coli.

It's not to say racism doesn't exist in the Islands...but good lord...there's a difference in what we're talking about.

You are an utter retard.
I'm an utter retard nikka shut your condescending ass up :comeon: have you ever spoken to a Dominican? Most Dominicans don't consider themselves black or white, it's a different come up way different culturally. They aren't concerned with issues in the African American community. Do you know how most blacks view Dominicans? These nikkas have serious identity problems in the States you ever read Junot Diaz book "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao"?

Many blacks will see this as c00ning by marrying a white man, Dominicans don't give a fukk about that. You think this mixraced, thin lip, lightskinned straight haired actress gives a fukk about black issues nikka?

I've had Dominican girlfriends the disconnect is real if you really think they connect with blacks YOU are the utter retard. I know Dominican isn't a race I never said it was. :childplease:

well honestly I wouldn't expect a 15% black Puerto Rican to consider himself black, nor would I look at him as being black
but I see what you're saying, it's mainly a cultural difference. the same could be said of white people from those countries.

It's some shady sh*t sometimes.

Ever been to South Florida? Some white Cubans act like black Cubans don't exist.
It's similar in PR and DR.

Take DR for example. Lots of mixed and black Dominicans. And generally they're accepted. But they look down (unfairly) at a black Haitian, but won't at a Black Dominican. It's a nationality/cultural thing.

It's wrong, but I'm just trying to highlight the difference.

yeah aren't they slaughtering Haitians?
I do understand the difference 100% though, every time I say what you're saying someone has to tell me "latino isn't a race". I've always knew that, even when most people I went to school with didn't. But like you, I'm saying now that latinos think of themselves as being latino before whatever race they actually are.

he's right though, we share a lot of problems but it's still a lot different
Dominicans generally aren't involved in the black on black violence, for instance

Zoe Saldana is clearly not mixed.

Zoe Saldana is brown, not yellow, and less mixed than a vast majority of Black Americans.

There's a lot of violence around the border. I mean in some trading hubs like Dajabon it's not too bad.
But there is violence on Haitians and even the ones that do manage to get into DR and work...they're treated poorly.

This Haitian guy and his wife and 2 kids lived next to my uncle about 3-4 years ago down there. Super nice man. Hard working dude, wife was nice. Their kid (like 2 years old?) was annoying as hell tho. But they were a great family. The guy worked like a dog...all day. Felt bad when I heard he got kicked out of the house because the owner wanted to sell it.
