Negro you said ANY standard of beauty...sh
You don't get to determine Nina's value/worth/beauty for anyone other than yourself...

She was absolutely gorgeous...

And you are the main one in here mad that she was with a white man :laff:

I never see Nina Simone's name pop up whenever there's a discussion on fine sistas throughout history, but to each their own :yeshrug:

So people are gonna ignore the racist society that Nina Simone lived in? That we live in today? Are we ignoring that colorism is a thing?

In America, there is a "black" look. Because ignorant ass racists, created propaganda defining black features as dark, big and broad and masculine or savage like. Beauty was considered a sign of a more advanced race, so were considered sub-human because they considered those features ugly.

So yes, people who held those features, were looked at worse than those closer to the ideal white spectrum.

So, while Horners may be light skin, slim nosed and wavy hair. They would be considered closer to white, not literally or genetically, but based on the culture in America. But they general public, (white folks) didnt care and didnt know about the diversity or history of Africa.

There's a reason why those features were used in minstrel shows and propaganda to identify black folks.

Everything in past tense :mjlol: Justify and continue to perpetuate ignorance because its the norm :dead:

Obviously not.

No one is saying that Nina Simone is the only example of African phenotype.

You just refuse to understand that Nina was fighting for her skin tone an phenotype to be respected, her art to be respected regardless to her identity, black skin and phenotype.

Interesting quote :jbhmm:
"I do not believe in mixing of the races. You can quote me. I don't believe in it, and I never have. I've never changed. I've never changed my hair. I've never changed my color, I have always been proud of myself, and my fans are proud of me for remaining the way I've always been. I married a white man one time, but he was a creep."

Wow. Just wow. Do you always pick through a post for something to argue about? Did you disregard everything I posted to point out that its not just Horners? That wasnt the important part or the point. :snoop:
