Nina Simone is a notable enough figure to where people will be drawn to the theatre anyway. This could've been the chance for an unknown actress to get some notoriety (see "Selena"; Jennifer Lopez).

Mexicans HATED the fact that J.Lo got that role simply because she wasn't a Tex-Mex person. That shyt was criticized... til they saw the final product and then people applauded.

Maybe, just maybe, we can wait til we actually see the movie before we go nuts over Zoe Saldana being Nina Simone.

There are wayyyyyyy better actors who happen to look a little bit more like Nina Simone.

I know creole is not a race. You don't have to be immediately mixed to be MIXED. Most Dominicans aren't immediately mixed, but they still mulattoes. Its no different when it comes to Beyonce's mother.
