What they're alluding to is it's killing the quality of the game. Basketball is as big as it's ever been but kids don't know how to play anymore. College and NBA coaches aren't paid to develop anybody; they're paid to win. That's why they recruit the best players. When the best players can't play, and you have to teach them basic nuances and skills, it takes away from game preparation etc, which hurts your chances of winning.

Instead of developing their game, they're playing AAU every weekend. Kids think they're better than what they are, then end up with no offers on the table. It's just bad basketball in general. The fact the gym was packed for this game says a lot about where basketball is as a sport.
Basketball is entertainment, AAU is money off entertainment.
IF college and NBA coaches don't want to develop that is their problem, not the players problem.

People were saying literally the same thing about Lonzo. I remember cause I was :cape:for him after watching some full chino hills. You act like brehs at 15 are supposed to be fully developed :heh:. It's 100% facts that he will get stronger and more explosive. That's just natural has a developing teenager. Those aren't his issues. If you have a problem with his he plays the game (volume shooting) fair enough :manny:. But if you think a 15 year old can't become a better shooter or a better more willing defender with more maturity, reps, and time? :patrice:You probably just a hater :manny: . He's already better than 15 year old Lonzo. I bet even Lonzo would acknowledge that
What is this hater talk? What is there to hate on? I don't get a dime for saying Lamelo isn't an NBA player nor do I lose money if he turns out to be a 12th man in the league. Nobody is saying he won't develop but I've seen NBA guards at 15-16 (and younger) and none of them were this bad on defense or shot with 2 hands from 3. He took 56 shots to score 50 in a random AAU tournament, let that sink in.

Explosiveness isn't something you can truly develop. You can get better at it but NBA explosiveness is NOT taught. Lonzo has it; Lamelo does not.

The issue is that you all are talking about his height, his age, and his talent like they're hasn't been way taller, better, and more athletic players who never made it. There's a long line of guards much better than him who are at best in Europe or at worst on the block at home. :dead:

Look at his game back to what it was last year and tell me what's gotten better besides the fact he's taller. Zero midrange, zero defense, jumps in the air to make passes, shoots with 2 hands. This gotta be some twilight zone sh*t :heh:

If the product is poor, you don't make money. Picture an NBA game that looked like this game from last night. That's where the game could be headed in 20 years and nobody's watching that

Why do people say "our kids" especially Dudley and Kobe who have no kids or no male kids in AAU.
AAU works, it gets the talent noticed, it has them playing, college coaches get paid to develop and so do NBA coaches.
Its like you work at a company that wants a specialized skillset and they complain that they have to train workers to have the skillset they want.
SMH

They'll prop up international basketball next and how they learn the fundamentals early. But the USA kids are still winning gold.

We all know how Lavar runs an offense..game last night was no shock.

No one likes to watch international basketball compared to NBA though. They've been complaining about shyt for decades now.

NBA games don't look like that because NBA games have higher skill level, coaching, and athleticism and better officiating.
Stop acting like these kids aren't going to improve or that this isn't the norm for this level of competition for years.

You have 14 paragraphs in this thread on how you think Melo and then zion won't be shyt in college or the NBA lol, we get it breh.. If you think there are more then 5 rising junior point guards that could carry a crop of neighborhood kids, none of which probably goto a major d1 or d1 at all thru the aau circuit against some of the nation's best, then ur full of shyt... Or even the high school state ranks, son shot selection needs to improve, Word to curry ass, but he was getting to the rack and finishing at will.. Made more than a few excellent passes.. And not just in this game.. No one is in here saying he's the next anyone, but to downplay his where he is now is just being a Dap seeking idiot..

How is he carrying them when they get beat by double digits against actual circuit teams? They lose by 20 regularly. He's out there to get stats. He has not gone head up with any top guards in the country for a reason but I'm just hating.

Zion look like a more athletic Julius Randle.

I hope he can get a jumpshot eventually. He was bricking free throws and shyt like that. He got time though

Lamelo talented but his shot selection horrible. I guess thats cuz of his team/ego

I think he can have a decent jumpshot, just have to put in the work.

If I was coaching him, I'd spend the bulk of his training on shooting. The athleticism is gonna get him in the league regardless, but he can be deadly with a good perimeter game.
