Zion Williamson looks in shape as he celebrates the upcoming birth of his daughter. Edit: Baby is on the way.

I understand that argument but New Orleans ain’t exactly a top tier destination for free agents. I’m rolling the dice on a player of his caliber. Now if we was talking the Lakers or Miami that might warrant a different response outta me, but these small market teams have to build through the draft.

THATS WHY YOU
TRADE HIM FOR PICKS AND PLAYERS
WHILE HIS STOCK IS STILL HIGH.

you said it yourself he barely played. You not getting equal value out of any deal for him. I’m a knicks fan can you guess the last time we got the #1 overall pick. I ain’t given him up for anything short of a Gobert haul. At minimum keep him so he can raise his value

They’re a high seed in the playoffs if they get a couple bodies back that actually suit up.

You got the nuggets, grizzlies, suns, and kings taking the 1-4 seed off rip. They gonna need more than just a couple bodies to be a high seed in the west

They can be ahead of the Grizz and Kings with the right trade. Zion has value in the right situation.

What a fukking fool acting like a financial mogul in his sons name. Normal parents buy some safe mutual funds or some land, real estate etc, this dude does leveraged crypto bets. I can see where he gets his stupidity from

Does Zion legit have ZERO actual professional financial advisors on his team? If I'm worth millions and somebody came to me talking about investing or trading in crypto or creating a coin, especially in the past 4 fücking years, they'd be cut off right then and there.

New Orleans looked dam near unstoppable with him on the floor. Im keeping him until he demands a trade. And if I get burned I rebuild again. That’s how good Zion is.
It's a tough call. You kinda have to make the decision now if you wanna trade him. He's still young enough where you can sucker a team into his potential and they'll ignore his injury red flags and yield a huge haul. If he misses another half a season next year you're probably stuck with him as you'll get cents on the dollar in a trade. This guy has played very little ball in his pro career. 35% of eligible games is an appalling number.

You either trade him this offseason or go down with the Zion ship

his dad actually just convinced them to wire him $2m in cash, no crypto involved. and it sounds like he was actually just going to use it to pay off other debts. like a loan to cover his other loans.

he also convinced them to give him $150k as a "fee to start negotiations"

maybe he thought that if he convinced zion to do a deal before the loan came due, he'd have been able to fold the $2m in debt into it. really weird stuff all around.

Yea I don’t think there’s a wrong answer here. I just view Zion as a man that can will your franchise to a champion ship if healthy. Obviously I’m speculating from a small sample size, but it’s roll the dice and hope he turns it around or the safe bet would be to trade his azz for a haul. And if you trade him and he shows out next szn your azz might be out the door as a GM. It’s a tough call

My point of view is that you don't really see guys get healthier or skinnier as they age often. Clearly Zion ain't the most disciplined cat in the world. If he's the best version of himself he's obviously a guy that can be the best player on a championship team but I am highly dubious he ever reaches his potential.

NO was the #1 seed in the West before Zion went down. If he is healthy, they can compete with all of those teams. That is why they will not trade him until they are 100% convinced he will never stay on the court.

He is an MVP caliber player putting up Shaq-like offensive numbers to start his career. If you panic-trade a 23 year old and then he gets it together professionally somewhere else, you will never run a team again.

For argument's sake, let's say they traded him to the Knicks for Randle, Quickley, Grimes and every first NY can trade, plus swaps. Now imagine Zion playing 80 games in NY this coming season, he leads NY to a top-two seed in the East and wins MVP while becoming the biggest star in the league.

That disaster scenario is running through David Griffin's mind as well as NO's ownership.
