I don't think people understand that the character Maya is based on the real woman who tracked Bin Laden for years. Maybe there is some fluff added to it but the real CIA agent was a woman as far as I know..

They based most of their script on books. The Jen chick in the SEALS book was a part of a team wasnt she? They made it seem like this 1 woman tracked Bin Laden all by herself. Thats Hollywood bullsh1t. Im sure she's important, but Hollywood made it corny.

Reading who they talked to, its clear the movie is CIA propaganda. And scust at the 1 lil Obama clip. Authorizing a mission like that in a sovereign nuke armed country is kinda a big part of the story :usure:

From what I've heard, the chick Chastain's character is based off was really the main one pushing for it, that she was kinda disliked for her demeanor, almost like Carrie off of Homeland without the craziness.

And like philly said, she'd been on OBL for like 15 years, so she was the go to person on that because she knew everything about the shyt.

And it doesn't say she was the only one to confirm that it was OBL. She was the CIA rep that confirmed it, I'm sure there were other people that did confirmations as well, but since the story was focused on the Maya, someone from the CIA, they only had to show us hers.

Another case of a nikka just seeing what he wanted to see.

First of all, they didn't get the info from "books". A lot of the shyt came from leaked documents (from Wikileaks) and interviews with people involved with the hunt. But most of it came from leaked documents.

Second of all, no movie in the history of the world telling a true story ever gets all the details right. That's why there's always the disclaimer "Based on a true story". Writers and directors need some room for creative license in order to craft a better story or create character traits.

They didn't make it seem like she did all herself at all. She would've never gotten the main courier's phone tracked without the black dude, the chick from the Nine (it might've been someone else) tells her about Abu Ahmed possibly being alive (he was mistaken for one of her brothers), and they don't get visual ID of Ahmed without the 4 operatives in the van chasing Ahmed down in his SUV talking on a phone (that was being tracked). In addition, the guy who replaced Coach Taylor had to convince Gandolfini's goons that raiding the compound was the right move.

I don't understand how anyone with a brain could think this movie supports torture. What the fukk was the point of the guy screaming every day of the week before getting shoved in the box then? Moreover, they get all of the info they need from that same detainee when they feed the guy a normal Middle Eastern meal. Maya didn't even use the information given with the help of interrogations; she linked all of the taped interrogations and figured out that what the detainees aren't saying is more important than what they are saying.

And fukking hell, there's no video of Obama giving the direct order, so unless they're gonna have an actor play Obama to give the order (which would've been tacky and distracting), there's no fukking point to show a scene of Obama giving the order.

Look, if you don't got a real response, shut the fukk up and let the adults speak on this.

If you don't like the movie because you were bored, the characters didn't do anything for you, or you didn't like the ending, then fine. But don't say some backwater, half-chromosome type dumb shyt like this movie supported torture or Obama didn't get enough screen-time. Stick to Adam Sandler comedies and Ashley Judd movies if you can't put together 2 plus 2 without someone handing you the chalk to work it out on the board.

Boal and Bigelow were planning a movie about the hunt for bin Laden long before he was ever located. The two had a finished script about the 2001 siege in the mountains of Tora Bora along the Afghan border, where bin Laden was believed to be hiding before escaping without a trace, and were just about to begin shooting when the raid came in May 2011.

“The minute we heard the news that Osama bin Laden had been killed, what we had been working on became history,” Bigelow writes. “As interesting a story as that would have been to tell, the news re-directed our entire efforts. It changed the movie idea forever.”

Boal said he tossed out his original script entirely and started from scratch. “But a lot of the homework I’d done for the first script and a lot of the contacts I made, carried over,” he added. “The years I had spent talking to military and intelligence operators involved in counterterrorism was helpful in both projects. Some of the sourcing I had developed long, long ago continued to be helpful for this version.”

A Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by Judicial Watch turned up some information about how Boal went about his work, revealing documents that indicated he had a meeting with White House counterterrorism and national security officials, assorted defense and intelligence public affairs officers (whose jobs are to deal with such inquiries), and may have received a tour of the CIA facility where some of the training for the raid occurred. The documents also said his interview requests had been turned down by Admiral William H. McRaven, then commander of Joint Special Operations Command (a.k.a. JSOC), which coordinated the raid, and Admiral Eric T. Olson, commander of Special Operations Command (SOCOM), who also helped oversee the attack.

Those same documents said Boal may be provided with a commander from the Special Mission Unit who was involved in the planning of the raid, though they don’t confirm the meeting ever took place. Pentagon press secretary George Little later told reporters the idea was suggested, but never happened.

Move on.

Move on.

Listen u no taste having n1gga. I know they had inside sources, but its clear the Maya character was based around Jen in the SEALs book. I have no doubts that the SEAL talked to these people before his book came out. Which is probably why the most realistic scenes are the bin laden takedown and the SEALs hanging out. The rest is pure cia propaganda.

The movie was stanky azz and you a bish for liking it:leostare:

Watched the screener to see what the hype is about....I thought it was alright but overrated. I don't know where all these 10/10, best movie of the year is coming from. This Kathryn Bigelow chick got the critics gassed up big time . I did think it was a good filmed movie...did a nice job of going from setting to setting and the action scenes were intense. But it was too drawn out...def had me checking the watch the last hour-hour and half. The characters sucked for the most part....I like Claire Danes performance a lot more playing basically the same character :yeshrug:. I thought the best performance was Jason Clarke. Those interrogation scenes were well done. It was also way too heavy with the propaganda for my liking. I'd give it a 7/10

I don't know what some of you were watching but this was a really good movie. It gave good insight to the whole situation. One of the better movies I've seen.
