Again, regardless of what AJ did or walked back from doing...if there is nothing in those independent contractor agreements stating what can and cannot be said publicly about WWE's inner workings or what can or cannot be done with one's own social media or the monetizing of social media then WWE just staking a claim because they don't like what the wrestlers are doing on their side gigs makes zero sense.

If there is no prohibitive language than the logical step would be for WWE to renegotiate all contracts with new ones that include the pertinent language. Or they could bully the folks on their roster into just submitting to whatever they want them to do and let the chips fall where they may for anyone who bristles at being bullied which seems to be the course of action WWE has taken.

That is pure nonsense.

Totally controlling what an independent contractor does on their social media is in an entirely different universe than working with an independent contractor on a social media response to a sticky public relations controversy that could end up being a black mark on the brand.
And doing damage control with a talent you want to keep working for you doesn't then the company deserves a vig from the talent's side hustle.

And WWE will always face some backlash when people working for them do awful shyt because that is just how things work in the real world. If they wanted no backlash they should've fired Velveteen the second they found out he was sending dikk pics to teenage white boys.
This is flip flopping. A wrestler does something bad on social media people connect it back to WWE. They do something good WWE shouldn't be connected. Flip flopping. Which is it? Dream got accused of stuff on a 3rd party social media and people connected it to WWE and said he should be fired from WWE due to his "independent" activities. Again which is it? Flip flopping based on when people like somebody or not.

And i'll just say, again...if these independent contractor myths were true WWE would look alot different.

And again, i have no sympathy for any of these people, they signed these contracts.

The fragile egos in this thread is sad.

WWE clearly encroaching in a territory that not only gets them in trouble but also will push whether on not that they could be the sole ownership of these character instead of joint ownership. Which is the applicable label for all characters.

Lose your job because your boss is a 75 year old megalomaniac who has protected murderers, pedos, and rapists, but is offended by worker empowerment

But yeah like i've always said, i have no sympathy for any of these carnies, they can be just as bad as Vince. And they can stop acting like they going through slavery and shyt. Calm down.

How can they be as bad as a guy who's covered up murders, child abuse, and sexual assaults:stopitslime:

SPECIFICALLY WITH A PLATFORM LIKE TWITCH WHERE YOU ARE MAKING MONEY...you can't just be jumping on a stream talking about the inner workings of WWE, then claiming that's a completely independent thing from WWE.

Yall just talking like some internet wrestling community dudes. SMH. I'm looking at it from the legal point of view and from common sense. If i owned a company, and one of my employees got on twitch making money talking about how i run shyt, i'm going to demand they take it down or I'm taking a cut since you talking about MY shyt. Or that person can just get terminated.
First of all, stop pretending that the issue is "talking about the inner workings of WWE"

If that's the case, they could easily say, "Stop talking about WWE" on your streams. Problem solved:stopitslime:.

Why take "independent contractors", who can't do their job in the middle of a pandemic's ability to supplement their income?
I see the usual stooges are caping for Master McMahon. :skip:

And it's pathetic.

They're like Trump supporters or something:hhh:

People are about to see just how "open minded" wrestling promoters really are:mjlol: Other companies don't mind you having a twitch account or working other shows, but once you get to talking about a union that support dries up quick. Anyone who's followed the history of pro wrestling knows that 99% of the promoters are absolute scumbags.

Good.

Let us see how "open minded" Tony Khan is.

Don't defend Vince's bullshyt though. This is an opportunity to chance all industries, not just wrestling.

LOL you nikkas think you know more than a legal team for a billion dollar company. If you're neckbeard conspiracies were true the entire landscape of WWE would be different. It would be night and day if all of these contractor myths were true. LMAO nikka said loopholes.

Dude, billion dollar corporations lose lawsuits everyday:heh:

You think Monsanto doesn't have a legal team:dahell:?

because like i keep saying, some of you are only looking at it from a wrestling fan perspective with "fukk Vince" as the context.

Or some of us are looking at it from a workers' rights perspective as decent human beings:yeshrug:

again, so you connect all the shyt WRESTLERS DO to Vince/WWE, but stick up for the wrestlers? :why: You're making Vince's case for him...when these wrestler do this bullshyt the first thing outta people mouths is "WWE..." How do yall do this thing where WWE has to eat the failure of all these carnies even when it's independent of WWE, but when they do something good on their own that's because of their WWE fame you don't link it to WWE.

Flipflopping like i fukking said.

The shyt you listed is exactly why i have no sympathy for these people. :scust: Motherfukkers running around racists, murdering, raping, pedos...fukk them. :manny:

People who defend the status quo often like to use the tactic of dismissing anyone who doesn't as having a negative bias , not just with wrestling people pull that shyt with patriotism , but part of being held to a high standard includes critique , it isn't always just hate , I have my gripes at times , but I also acknowledge the things I do like, the day I can't I will take a hiatus or move on, but there are always aspects I enjoy that I point out, so the everyone that questions this wants to only reach for the negative narrative is false
Exactly

they say you are a Stan, hey group you in with the bottom feeders despite knowing anything about you just to discredit you instead of rebuttaling your argument. This happens all over this forum

you keep talking about what AJ did but who said she was doing the same thing? This isn’t about shutting her down cause she is talking about behind the scenes stuff. Why can’t you see that this is just because Vince said so? Until you can prove to me that they ain’t like her content their is nothing to talk about.

You keep saying them being contractors is dirt sheet talk, so your whole point is based on whether they are employees or contractors? Cause
If all the dirt sheets and rumors were wrong and wwe never chooses to discredit them then why should I believe they aren’t actually independent contractors? Politicians and celebrities have publicly called them out on this and they said nothing. Former wrestler have said time and time again they were independent contractors. You saying all these people are wrong? Come on man. they dont get w-2's they get 1099's that makes them contractors

sorry to fukk up your whole post but you latched on to a minor semantics debate with "employees". Again, all we know about their contracts is what people like Meltzer are guessing and making up about "independent contractors".
Except no.

This is basic labor law.

These two designations are real and the differences are dramatic, down to the classifications in the tax code. There was literally a massive campaign about this in California over Uber/Lyft. You're thinking this is something that it isn't and it's making your whole point fall apart. Because you're assuming that just because there are lawyers out there defending something, that it has merit or basis in reality.

There are lawyers out there contesting the election in places where it is uncontestable.

Just because the company has a team of litigators means fukk-all for the righteousness of what they are doing and the murky legality of it all. It's... literally the reason why someone who ran for president this cycle is making a big deal out of this. Because it is old-school union-busting actions by an industry that fears collective bargaining because it will encroach on their way of doing things the 'old school' way despite bending over backwards to not do that very thing when it benefits them.

AJ can say whatever the fukk he wants, and they can fire him whenever they want, because he's an independent contractor. He could literally talk about everything that went on backstage prepping for the Boneyard match. They cannot stop him, and they cannot sue him for it. Because he is not an employee. But they legally have no recourse to take outside earnings from their talent without being given them. They can't file injunctions, they can't garnish their twitch earnings, they can't even demand someone shut down an onlyfans. All they literally can do is release someone, because they are not employees.

As a note: I'm aware of how deals are done with the E. I've personally looked over an appearance contract from them. Flabbergasting piece of documentation. A whole fukkload of covering their asses and pretty much nothing done for the talent's end outside of platitudes and assurances - both likely quite empty.

My point wasn't that they're literally making contracts on handshakes; it was hyperbole on the fact that Vince is still out here trying to operate a modern, global business using old-school territory finessing. People who work at McDonalds' franchises literally have more worker's protections than Drew McIntyre. This is not assumptions or made-up. This is law. And again; it wouldn't even be hard to tear down for anyone with the money to push through the delays and obfuscations the army of WWE lawyers will throw out. It's just... no one will care to do it who has the money, and the only other option is governmental oversight, and that'll require someone to give a shyt about professional wrestling in 2020. Wrestling companies can barely get their fans to do that, at this point.

Anywho. fukk WWE as a business, a promotion, and a motherfukkin crew :pacspit:

None of that makes any sense, chief.
