I'm not sure. Discovery probably had to use debt to get Time Warner from AT&T. Ironically AT&T still has excessive debt. I'm not so sure this spinoff even helped any of the parties involved because WBD stock share price is in the toilet and AT&T's share price isn't really doing much either.Why did they take on so much of At&t debt but didn't force them to take half when they reorganized?!?
T was a value trap before and after this deal. In 2020 T was $30 today it's about $20. Lost 25% of its share price. In 5 years SPY is up 80%. That's over 100% difference in growth.
