Sounds like every thing they originally planned or came up with afterwards was a case of doing too much. Remember in BvS we got the introduction of Batman, introduction of Wonder Woman and introduction of Lex Luthor, on top of teasing the other Justice League members, in a scheme where Batman and Superman are pitted against each other, amidst setting up Darkseid and Apokalips for the future and throwing in Doomsday and the Death of Superman at the end as well.

But his track record indicates we’d have a cool 45-60 seconds of action, then a non existent narrative that fans are forced to fill in based on their previous knowledge of the character. Which result in divisions because the motivations fans had to create don’t match up with Snyder’s weird ass objectivist views on the characters.

The whole dcu movie universe has made 5 movies only 2 have been financial successes and the two most widely known properties in the world produced movies that were modest at best gains but break even and losses.


Compare what they are doing and trending to marvel, its a failure thay nwver should have occured.

I still don’t believe everyone needs a solo movie tying into one global storyline.

That’s how you get a situation with about half of the Marvel flicks just being meh.

By your math, neither of those was very profitable, and you’re not accounting for how much of the box office revenue the studio keeps. Warner doesn’t get to keep 100% of the revenue from that global take. It gets roughly 50% of the US take, 25%ish from the international take, and 10 to 25% of the China box office.

In short WB did not make $264 million off of Shazam, after marketing costs and the splits it was probably closer to 30 million.

And WB probably lost money on JL’s theatrical run.

$300M budget, which may have even been before Whedon and the moustache CGI.

How much for promo? You’re saying $300M on top of that, which I think is pretty high, which puts it at $600M spent.

Made $229M domestically in which the studio probably sees about 60% of that money.

Made $429M foreign in which the studio might see about 40% of that money.

Disc sales were around $60M.

So the ironing is delicious regarding your agenda comment.

Shazam obviously made money.

Batman vs. Superman made over $100M net profit at the box office not accounting what they made on discs and digital.

Deadline had an article about it.
