But most people who have a basic understanding of how business is done in America know that starting a business is going to have some type of government handout. And the fact is that not enough black people hire black people, not enough black people shop at black businesses, and not enough black people bank black. So gov't help and powernomics are not mutually exclusive and they can be done in parallel or tandem.
Black people
don't need handouts, Black people need the government to stop sanctioning a system where we are relegated to the bottom. And that same government needs to pay us for the labor of our ancestors--slavery only ended 153 years ago.
There's plenty of data on the "handouts" non-black, non-white people get in this country, who've done less. And there's plenty of precedent for reparations from this country, to people who weren't American slaves.
Powernomics falls under these same conservative principle that say black people need to pull themselves up by boot-straps they don't have. We are not some powerful, united group outside of what Diddy and Jay-Z bullshyts about "Black Excellence" and women in African clothes calling themselves "queen" on Instagram.
I'm a grown man and I'm tired of these games and workarounds.
Example; we cannot "buy politicians" in the age of Citizens United. Trying to compete is going get us destroyed as soon as some monopoly or billionaire feels threatened by us.
I do not wanna be the governments or white people's friend.
These muhfukkas owe us.
