Above the fray.
If YC is going to keep it real, she can update the story next week. It took me 5 minutes total, to find the apparent source material for all of these articles, and a video clip about the woman's father. Both findings go against what the points of her videos were, so she has no incentive to update.
She mistakenly picked the wrong story to get behind to make her points.

Also, I'm going to assume that YC's parents are both college educated. I read that her major at Howard was poli-sci. I doubt that she's first generation college grad because most 1st generation college students are trying to secure the bag.....and Political Science degree is not securing the bag.

Do her accomplishments mean less than a person who was a first generation college graduate in their family?

Is anybody really self made? Aren't we all taught/shown values by the ones who raised us? Won't these values help us later in life to see or take advantage of opportunities?

Those are quotes from the video breh. You mean to tell me listened to this shyt and don't even know what you're defending?
I'm not defending Yvette.

In the thread where she went at Boyce I said I was tired of her (and Tone) always talking about our problems (yes, their "data" is accurate) without talking about realistic solutions. Talking about "black politics" isn't enough for me.

I can't sit and wallow in misery for 2 hrs every week talking about why "strivers"and "do-for-selfers" are deluding themselves.

I salute that young BW's accomplishments and building her family's wealth :salute:
But I damn sure know that managing a McDonald's does NOT provide the income to own one at 26-28 yrs old:usure:

I LITERALLY want to know how this Brotha generated that capital to see if it's something I can do:wow:

But there are "men" in this thread who can't seem to grasp the concept of acknowledging a valid point without totally agreeing with someone's argument.

Bold is true but people just hate on self made arbitrarily. Master P got money from inheritance so I guess he not self made and the list goes on and on. People use hate on "self made" people when they don't like them because like you said nobody is self made. We all got help from somewhere if everybody wants to be technical.

you're NOT "n!ggas"

There's nothing wrong with that at all. I said the same thing earlier in the thread, this could be a example for other families to emulate in their own way.

That's a far and away from what Yvette did in her video. We BOTH saw that quote right??? She doesn't even like for you to KNOW about a story like this, let alone how they did it. There's a huge difference between providing information to encourage social mobility and re-appropriating that same info to present social mobility as completely impossible. Yvette did the latter in this video :yeshrug:

If this is serious, you can do a google books search under "Black Enterprise magazine""Mcdonald's".You will find articles and interviews about the fast food industry, McDonald's and Black franchisees going back 40-50 years.

She never said don't invest into crypto-currency. Bitcoin has been around for nearly a decade, last winter we had bunch of people trying to invest during market highs smh. People taking out loans, borrowing against their mortgage or 401k or kid's tuition fund. She just wanted our people to understand the technology behind crypto-currency, the pro's, the con's and not just ride the wave for the fukk of it.
STOP DEFENDING A POINT I DIDN'T MAKE. Where did I say Yvette specifically was one of the people calling Bitcoin a scam? Guilty conscious. Go somewhere and prepare to die, you broke ass DOS. You were born black, life is over according to the data.

When I was trying to find more details on the Brotha I noticed there was an association of Black McDonald's owner/operators that recognized his accomplishments but no info on sources non-borrowed start up capital:shaq2:

Abundance
Awesome btw how much did she raise for charitable causes?

If I could find out the dollar amount are you going to then shift to something else like you did just now? What's next, volunteer hours?

Maybe someone can ask about her charitable donations in person when she gives her talk in Chicago next month. She's worked with a bunch of non profits...but Yvette's trajectory from student government at Howard, to DNC Capitol Hill aide in the early 2000's, to starting with Boyce and "Your Black World" in 2010 has been laid out to the point where people even know that she had to move back with her parents for a time. There are people giving their views on YouTube with less credentials and community engagement than her, so I don't see why it's an issue she has an online following.
