grace is a good reviewer but she got very strange about this issue. i dont know what the hell is going on with her

I get where she's coming from. A lot of these Marvel fan boy reviewers just couldn't keep BvS out of their mouths even when reviewing Civil War. I can see it being trivial to complain about, but at the same time, why should the comparison be made for a film from a different franchise over something like Age of Ultron which is within the same franchise or comparing it to Winter Soldier which is its supposed direct sequel. In other words, why even mention BvS unless it is a hard-on to continue trash it for no reason? The review should be about Civil War and the comparison should be related to previous Marvel films.

Making a comparison to a movie in the same genre covering similar material released in the same year makes sense. It's no different than comparing white house down to Olympus has fallen or comparing the Hercules movie starring the Rock to the other Hercules movie that came out that same year. At the end of the day these are two movies that were sold as superheroes fighting on opposite sides released like a month apart, they were always going to be compared no matter which one people liked better.

I don't recall critics making comparisons of Olympus Has Fallen to White House Down in a disparaging or negative way whether it is for or against EITHER film. At the most it'll be to the effect that they're two similar films but not in a way to review one and say the other is TRASH because of personal bias. Or with Hercules which BOTH films tell the same story but not in trying to bash the other film while making the review. It's not like a reviewer saying the Dwayne Johnson version is hot and it is a SHAME the other version cannot be as great. Average reviews don't go like that.

Name any other NON-MCU/Disney film that been reviewed out of spite of another MCU film in a negative disparaging way? For instance, Days of Future Past was beloved by the critics.... but it but did any of the critics that praised that film did so to spite Winter Soldier? They both were comic book films out the same year, actually a month apart from each other. Of COURSE not because they're different properties. Or Age of Ultron and Ant-Man... both Marvel films with one more praised than the other.... were there critics that went out there way to BASH Age of Ultron while praising Ant-Man? Of course not... it is ridiculous for those that do. So why should it be an exception with BvS and Civil War? They're different films from different brands from different studios... the only thing in common are that they're both part of the comic book movie genre.

So, yea... it is unnecessary for some of these critics to pop off shots at BvS a full month afterwards when reviewing Civil War... why not just review the film or if you were to make a comparison do it with its own lineage like most reviews of a franchise do? Mission Impossible and the last Bond film came out last year with virtually the same plot premise.... you ain't read reviews where one critic is bashing the either film while praising the other just because....

You don't look at reviews much if you don't see critics praising one movie while bashing something similar. Go check out the reviews for Fury Road and see how many mentioned the Fast and Furious franchise in a disparaging way.

:mjlol: two superhero movies with the same general plot less than two months apart originally supposed to be released at the same time and they don't want comparisons :dead:

I always be wondering why these gassed up reviews don't be having the MCU winning awards for acting or great screenplay? :jbhmm:

Bloggers don't know much about actual film and filmmaking and acting and writing. The Force Awakens is going to win a ton of technical awards and maybe costume and set designs as it should but nobody is going to be looking at it like it had a great script or the acting performances were excellent etc..
