Pre gentrified nyc was something else. It was like when crime was getting better but it was still grimey at the same time.

One of my fondest memories would be to go shopping on 34th st with my family and we were too poor to buy anything so we’ll just browse for hours but we would go to the Pizza Hut and get a pizza supreme. It was like the best tasting shyt ever.

Me and my family would mostly stick to Jamaica ave (Queens all day!) But when we did hit Manhattan we used to window shop in the big Toys R Us... :blessed:

Was it Jimmy Jazz?

I used to get my 54-11's at the Coliseum on Jamaica Ave every school year.

I remember the coliseum... Gertz mall was dusty af. Me and my sisters never wanted to go there as kids 😒

Getting off the 2 / 3/ 4/ or 5 train at Nevins, got a Kansas Fried Chicken across the street, walking up to Kentucky Fried Chicken that was right on the corner of Flatbush & Fulton, turn the corner onto Fulton, walk down a couple of blocks and then this pops up

Anybody remember the Roy Rogers that was located across the street from the present day Applebees by Dekalb Ave?

Catching a movie on Saturday with the family at the Duffield movie theatre.

Don't let all my Midwest fishing and nature stories fool you. This is just Part III of my life. The original and sequel was about life growing up in Brooklyn from B-Boy to Gentrification. :youngsabo:

oh wow…not that I know anything about you but I still didn’t think you were a BK representer…from the good times too
