It's all in the taste buds Bro. The herbs, quality sauce, and cheese makes for a winner.
While growing up and when not in the hood but living in house with a yard and an area in close proximity to Italians I learnt a few things.
One neighbor had a greenhouse and used to grow tomatoes and make sauce, and another neighbor in another town two doors down (Mrs. Russo) taught my mom how to make lasagna. Her husband helped my pop start a vegetable garden just like in the Godfather film.
