Same thing (minus the advance in social media) where Joe was putting out freestyles and mixtape songs but hadn't really been photographed. People who knew him or knew of him or had seen him perform knew what he looked like, but the majority of folks didn't. Rasheed was recording songs, long story short, the rumor got out there and people ran with it for like a few weeks.

this song is what really did it. when this came out nikkas swore up and down it was sheed

Nas stans always make up the best, most intricate stories to explain their delusions and fantasies

"Nas found Scarlet rapping in a Paris ghetto, she's his new protégé"

"Record labels can't control the content Nas puts out under your old droog"

2) the other half are now dissing Nas saying he was never this nice and not creative enough so of course it wasnt him...like he aint gotta a body of work to speak of

What's the beat in the OP? I know I've heard it before, think it was a Sauce Money song.

:dwillhuh: lMao wasn't there for that what happened

ima rap encyclopedia...

if im not mistaken it may have been a tape called Hev. E Components... not 100% on that, but anyway but Joe had two freestyles on there one where he rapped with Fab over the "1,2 Free is coming for youuuu" Freeway beat... (forgot all about that song lol), and another one where he rap's over "Let's Get It" by GDEP. On the tracklisting, the G Dep freestyle said "Joe Buddens - Freestyle (Rasheed Wallace)"

Rasheed Wallace had did a drop for Clue some basic "Yo this Rasheed Wallace of the Portland Trailblazers blah blah blah" shyt. That Drop was right ahead of the Joe Buddens freestyle and the beginning of the side B if you had the cassette. But you know how mixtapes was back then, they had all types of typos and shyt. So on the CD the Rasheed Wallace Drop was on the same Track as the Buddens freestyle. And the Credit reflected that... So it led people to believe that Joe Buddens was Rasheed Wallace rap name and he was embarking on a rap career. nikkas eventually figured it out once "Pump It Up" dropped.
