I watch using Chromecast from my phone and share the concerns @Macallik86 raised.

Can’t skip the intro, which is annoying whilst binge watching.
Can’t go directly from the episode I’m watching to a list of its episodes (have to search for the show :snoop:)
Can’t skip to the next episode (if I watched a few episodes at a friend’s house and can’t remember which episode I’m on I may start at episode 4 realize I’ve seen it and just want to skip to the next on... it’s a pain in the ass from the HBO app)

on my ps4 you can choose season and episodes ...

Can't speak to the deal, but HBO Max is by far the worst viewing interface I've come across in terms of digital streaming
  • No option to skip to the very next episode
  • No option to jump to any other episode or any other season
  • No option to skip ahead 30 seconds
  • If/when the episode crashes or you have to restart it, it starts you at the first episode you started watching. So, if you knocked out 3 episodes, you have to manually drag to the end of the episode 3x to get to where you were

TBH, I just jump in and out of streaming services based on new shows being released, but their experience is among the WOAT.
Not only that it's so fukking slow and clunky to navigate through. Feels like I'm playing a an Resident Evil game with a million loading screens everytime I enter a new room.

That's weird I can do all those things on the Firestick except for skipping a episode which I don't think they have as a feature

I've only used it on PS4, Nvidia Shield and now my new TV, both of the ladder have Android TV and it's not slow or sluggish at all. I also can easily see the list of episodes for a show and the progress made for that show. (I share the account with the fam, so when my bro uses it I can see where he's at on the stuff he's watching)

:manny:

The experience seems pretty dependent on the device being used. I have 1st gen Chromecasts and there is a quality hit when I try streaming these apps from my phone, but that's because the Chromecasts are dated. I'm sure the newer ones with Android TV installed on them are probably much better tho.

I have access to everything basically, and HBO Max's UI has never been a problem for me. It looks and feels better than most of them... already. I think in terms of navigating and finding stuff, Netflix is superior, but other than that, I prefer it to the rest. The rewinding/fast forwarding is tedious but I rarely have to do that for that long, and with Google Assistant integrated with my TV, I can literally say, "Ok Google, fast forward _______ seconds/minutes" and it'll do it.

Disagree...

especially after this deal

Sounds like your issues is just interface.... idgaf about interface because every streaming service has something wrong in that respect. I haven’t seen a perfect interface in general in a long time.

Now what they did is not charge extra to watch thier exclusive content first on HBOMax... literally said fukk renting, you can go to the theaters if you also want, and we’re dropping the hottest shyt on here not finding D-rated movies just to oversaturate your palet with trash movies...

This I can get behind because its been my main complaint of Disney, Amazon, Hulu, and Netflix all year.

:what:

HBO Max UI is easier to navigate than HULU, Prime Video and Disney+ and it just came out. Your list of concerns with the UI don't bother me at all
Hulu has the absolute worst UI of all of them. And the update they did a few months back just made an already mediocre UI into pure dog shyt.

Dune Director Denis Villeneuve Blasts Warner Bros. Streaming Decision - Variety

great minds think alike...
'I learned in the news that Warner Bros. has decided to release “Dune” on HBO Max at the same time as our theatrical release, using prominent images from our movie to promote their streaming service. With this decision AT&T has hijacked one of the most respectable and important studios in film history. There is absolutely no love for cinema, nor for the audience here. It is all about the survival of a telecom mammoth, one that is currently bearing an astronomical debt of more than $150 billion.'

@MartyMcFly probably still somewhere thinking that this was a 'good consumer move' though.:mjlol:
