Trump's tariffs were so successful that the Biden admin didn't repeal them and even expanded on some of them. The fact you think tariffs always lead to trade wars and don't even know it depends on the domestic strength of the industry being affected says a lot. Both administrations are trying to inshore American industries as fast as possible because American companies are finding excuses to outsource jobs that would usually go to American workers. They do not care if it is painful in the short term. They have to build up our infrastructure to prevent what is occurring in Europe.

I'm more worried about the impact on global politics and an increasingly flippant attitude towards conflict regions and it's players. You can build a wall and hide in isolationist nationalist ideology wonder land but that will only last for so long. Empowering Israël will lead to getting sucked into the next phase of a explosive regional conflict. Putting your dikk on the table in the Ukraine -Russia war will have consequences for NATO and by extension the EU that will have to hold their own nuts. That might sound good at first but give it a couple of years and see how 47 gets dragged into conflicts outside of continental Europe while sidestepping old established alliances.
