1998, I literally can't choose, it was the GOAT year of years.:damn:
:dead:

Glad I’m not the only one.

We were wearing out games all year  I have a case for atleast 5.

Might have to go Pokémon. One of the biggest gaming movements I’ve lived through. And once cats started bringin in gameboy link cables... man listen.

List is 100% in correct order (especially the top 5). GOTY is

51G2R9ZHR2L._SY445_.jpg

01. WWE SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain
02. NBA Live 2004
03. NBA Street Vol. 2
04. Yu-Gi-Oh! The Sacred Cards
05. Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne
06. James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing (really 04 but i'm keeping it)
07. Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses
08. Def Jam Vendetta
09. Enter the Matrix
10. ESPN NBA Basketball (2K4)

*Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell (Didn't like the game as much as the ones above but the graphics on the Xbox at the time were :wow:)

Looking at my list. ANY of the games could have been my GOTY. I put so many hours into these games:whew:

I miss Live vs ESPN 2K, good wrestling games, good games based on movies, Xbox having exclusives that interest me (and being my primary console), and Yu-Gi-Oh on my GBA:bryan:

I was literally OBSESSED with wrestling, basketball, and Yu-Gi-Oh in 03:pachaha:

That next year (04) was possibly the best year in gaming. So much heat. My Xmas that year was stacked.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it, innovation in gaming peaked in the late 90s/early 2000s. Just look look at the games that came out then. Most modern games are trying replicate that feeling but they can’t.

The next step is what I call next gen gameplay
They have the technology now to create gameplay sequences/mechanics that were not possible before
Games are becoming more immersive and cinematic with Sony's first party studios pushing the fold
I'm looking at studios like ND and Santa Monica
