So.....I should not read up on this? Just wanted more info... not to practice... I'm not tryna go down that path and have spirits after me...I'm scared to even Google it until someone gives me an answer

:hubie:
Nothing wrong with learning. It's part of our history and culture.

Developing relationships with these loas, orishas, spirits is like with anyone else. You dont come up to people you dont know commanding and demanding stuff from them.

But cacs be caccin.

So is it wrong to pray to ancestors or believe in manifestation thru meditation, frequencies, vibrations. I still say thanks to my ancestors and ask for guidance. But I meditate and believe in manifestation thru meditation.
Not at all!
While we all are connected to the universal Spirit and each have our own spiritual body, our ancestors are our connection to other spiritual entities.

Think of them as guides. You wouldnt go explore new land by yourself if you personally know someone who lives there and speaks the language. They been on the other side of death longer than you. They are more experienced. They will intervene and intercede on your behalf when it comes to other spirits.

Remember you are your ancestors so honor them and feed them. That's more important before you even in get into knowing any other loas or deity.

@Jesus is my protector Are you knowledgeable enough to answer this?
Eleggua is a Orisha and I'm not really familiar with Ifa/Santeria. But I think he maybe the Yoruba version of Legba because legba is an "old god" i.e from Africa iirc.

Yes and no. Eleggua is syncretized as Eshu in carribbean Ifa, or as Eshu-Eleggua while in Nigeria he is just Eshu. Eleggua really means 'Eshu is home' But Eleggua was known as Elegbara before. And really Ifa is the Yoruba way of the same practice as Afa from the Dahomeys and the Fon. So there is major major overlap with barely that many differences. The difference is mainly in depiction and some veneration but hes always the guardian of destiny and the crossroads, a symbol of supreme order and supreme chaos at once, one of the few beings who can speak directly to the one and only almighty God. But of course Cacs came through and tried to call Eshu the devil because of his take no shyt yet playful trickster nature, red colors and his wepaon of choice, the trident.

These dudes dont realize that the Orishas, the Lwas, The Mpungos, The Alusi and so on and so forth are Gods the same way that the Elohim aka Angels are divine in The Bible (Torah) and Angels and Jinn are divine in the Koran. We all believe in only ONE supreme God. Europeans were the ones that always have multiple Gods with their concept of Greek and Norse mythology, or the Holy Trinity, because their ancestors from ancient India also had thousands of Gods on the same level. Thats why Islam spread in Africa easier and less bloody than Christianity did. I do like some forms of Christianity tho specificaly the more Ancient ones. Catholicism and Orthodox Christianity is more compatible with African religions, Protestantism is not and since most diasporic Black people are Protestant in the States and Canada thats why you have such a distaste for ATR

Thanks for the correction brotha. And yea, I agree 100%. Vodou does in fact have one supreme God. Bondye. However the Lwas are there to act as intermediates. And yea, many Muslims in West Africa sync Islam with these type of beliefs.

And as for the bolded I see that you're aware of he Indo-European influence on Europeans aka the ancestors of Europeans being from Central Asia.
