This.

but congrats to him.
Jim Jones had the same position at WARNER BROS a couple of years ago. It let's Jeezy deal with the goonie type rappers execs don't want to and guide them through the industry and act as a talent scout.

Jim Jones was VP of A&R of Urban music at Koch Records, not Senior VP of a major label with history. There is a bunch of VP's not too many SVPs. He was also some type of A&R at Atlantic back in the days, consultant or some shyt like that. I don't know if that shyt was ever confirmed, cause T.I. was like the only rapper on that label at that time. And I don't know about that Nas deal, they said he was offered president of Atlantic records and a record deal. But he signed to Jay-z instead, again Nas declined a Win (according to these rumors).

Nas declined it because he knew it was just a scout job.. :rudy:

it wasn't A&R it was President of Atlantic Records.
The same position Julie Greenwald had and still has, a legend like Mike Kyser is President of Black Music. Yet Nas was gonna be president, that's one of the funniest ducktales I've heard. It was either a bullshyt position or the stans lied cause Jay became president of Def Jam.

This position as the #28 most powerful person in Music
Billboard Power 100: Julie Greenwald & Craig Kallman | Billboard.biz

:steviej:

And having a record deal that you controlled.

But nah it wasn't good enough, let me go and sign with the biggest p*ssy in the world and the most evil company instead of these lovely jews :leon:

Am I wrong in thinking a&r scouts and develops talent? If so...uhhh that other rapper has been doing this without an official position for the past three years. I hate to bring him into it but I'm just saying...and what talent has jeezy found and developed?

Himself and Boyz-n-da-hood, USDA were bunch of unknown cats that went gold as well but the artists couldn't capitalize of the buzz same as BNDH. :troll:

I don't see to many artists taking an unknown rapper and making him famous today, that's maybe not what Jeezy is gonna do.
He might work with nikkas who are already on. Ross took Wale a dude who sold 200k something with his first badly promoted album, with a management deal with Roc Nation and all that and made him sell 400k with his second album. I got to give mad props to Ross for Meek though, that's his artist straight up.

Jeezy makes it hard on himself, he should stop signing nikkas based on how many eightballs they sold and looking at how many mixtapes they sold instead.
Or how much they underachieved with their first album. Trying to take a completely unknown nikka and making him famous is nearly impossible unless you have the deepest ear for music/sales. Like Kanye, Birdman/slim, Puff etc.

I don't think he'd make enough from this to make it worth his time

If he spent the same time doing shows he'd be better off
