If you want to give him a shot, by all means go right ahead. But at the same time, Petty is not entitled to anything. a 4th round pick shouldn't prohibit you from drafting another QB.
Carolina wasted a 2nd round pick by drafting Cam Newton the next year. But if you ask them, it was worth it and they'd do it again every single time. Most draft picks are wasted. Especially when you get into that portion of the draft. Rounds 1-3 is where you find guys that impact the team. After that is where you get guys that can contribute, but most of them won't be a huge impact for a team. Basically a flier pick
