I didn't watch it because I know what it was going to be, it is what it is at this point.

I'm no longer complaining about it, I just don't watch it:yeshrug:

Nothing Bron, KD or Steph could say would hold any weight...because they've been just as guilty over the years.

You needed a prime Kobe, D-Wade...guys that had a history of playing hard as hell in these ASG's. Guys that were tone setters.

The ASG is dead. It's been dead.

Kobe for sure, but tbf Wade was right there with LeBron pioneering the ish that was on display last night. Prior to banana-boat gang taking the reigns as the premiere stars, it was semi-competitive thru 3 quarters before getting intense in the 4th, but there was a shift in the late-00s/early10s where it was more clear the runway and have everyone take turns doing whatever.

I actually give young KD some credit because he was at least trying to go 1v1s with LeBron like old Kobe was, but Bron wasn't having it. Then the 3pt era kicked off, and we got the final form we see today. What sorta worked at the time, even if briefly, was 2020's target score format. The concept of it mitigates the incentive to horseshyt around indefinitely since there's only so many scoring possessions you get. And as a hooper, it brings about a bit more focus compared to a running clock.

2020 was probably the best/most intense all star game we had in over a decade. In real time the coli was super hyped. But all that momentum has long since grinded to a halt.

Ì don't get why people are complaining about this

The asg is a meaningless game where the players can just have fun and chill with other players in the league

You want them to risk injury for a game that doesn't matter?

The nba has a lot of issues right now but players joking around in the all star game isn't one of them

Nah bruh. I be defending the nba but that was some bullshyt. You can play competitive without risking injury. They did in the 90s & 2000s

The league commissioner does see it as an issue though :pachaha:

If it was just about the players having fun and chilling, the league could expense a trip for them all to hang out off for a week off cameras, but they (the league) has a responsibility to put an entertaining product on the floor. Some of these guys will put in the effort to lock up Craig the retail sales guy in a meaningless drew league game, but we cant get those moments of intensity in a game with the greatest collection of talent the sport has to offer. You gotta be kidding me

Just make this shyt a one on one tournament :hubie: simple as that. These guys make way too much money to care. Same thing with the regular season, everyone with a good team is coasting. Even now that you have the play in tournament. These guys make way too much money to care lol.

We have to stop operating in extremes

Most people aren’t asking for players to play like it’s a Game 7 or for guys to give out hard fouls, or to dive on the floor for loose balls, or to draw charges, etc.

Give us the same amount of effort they have in the Drew League or the Jamal Crawford Pro-Am, which are also meaningless exhibitions that they can get injured in and most people would be happy

There’s nothing entertaining about just watching everyone stand around and take turns launching 3s. There’s a reason this game is getting destroyed on every outlet/platform, and it’s not just nostalgia for the old days. ASW is a platform for the NBA to showcase the league and this was a bad product.
