Y'all are trolling, or are very stupid.
6 divided by 2(1+2)
=6 divided by 2(3)
=6 divided by 6
=1

If the answer was 9, it have been written like (6/2)(1+2) originally.
The PEMDAS method is classic and I think it changed with Common Core. I will give the benefit of the doubt that some of y'all are not from the U.S.A. and may have different notation. But if you Are American and never were in school with Common Core, and you got this wrong, you need to sue to school system responsible for educating you.

I get what youre saying but operating from left to right is important once all the operations are level.

That would mean after youve taken care of whats in the parenthesis, 6÷2(3) are level. Within each of these steps, you go from left‐to‐right. So starting from left and ending right as PEMDAS dictates means 6÷2=3. Then 3(3) = 9.

6 / 2 (1+2) = 6 / 2 × 3 = 6 / 6 = 1

So, answer is 1
a lot of yall are getting caught on the 6/2 part, I think it would become a lot more clear to you if it was written the way it should be which is 6 over 2

you can't multiply the 3 like your trying to do with a denominator. 6 over 2 simplifies to 3 and then you get 3x3

if you cross multiply it still comes out to 6 over 2 x 6 over 2 which equals 36 over 4, 36/4=9

The problem is written ambiguously and either 9 or 1 is correct depending on which convention you use. "PEMDAS" is not a hard and fast math rule. It's a convention used to create consistency. However there is another mathematical convention called "implied multiplication by juxtaposition" (this convention is actually debated on whether it does exist or not). That is juxtaposed values must be multiplied together before processing other operations (e.g. in the case of this problem you would multiple the 2 into the factor (1+2) first). Also the obelus (÷) division symbol can be interpreted in two different ways “divide the number on the left by the number on the right” (the way it's "conventionally" used now) or “divide the expression on the left by the expression on the right.” (the way it's historically been used in the past). In fact the International Organization of Standardization does not even recommend the use of he obelus for division. They only recommend using the solidus (/) and the fraction bar. So in this equation you have conflicting conventions (PEMDAS vs juxtaposition) and the use of a symbol that itself is inherently ambiguous (÷). you could type this equation into different calculators and get different results. Math professors also argue about this as well.

PEMDAS
Go from left to right
Multiplication and division before subtraction

6 / 2*(1+2)
3*(1+2)
3*(3)
