The way I worked the problem is that I completely cancel out the parentheses. Working the addition problem in the parentheses doesn't completely cancel out the parentheses. The way I was taught is that anything in brackets or parentheses is worked first, so I'm in the group that thinks the solution to this mathematical equation is 1.

The answer is 9 and you can easily prove this with a calculator. Looks like PEMDAS is confusing people into thinking that multiplication is done before division which is wrong. Despite the fact that M comes before D in PEMDAS, multiplication and division rank the same so you go left to right. In this particular case, you do division before multiplication.

P: Parentheses first
E: Exponents (ie Powers and Square Roots, etc.)
MD: Multiplication and Division (left-to-right)
AS: Addition and Subtraction (left-to-right)

6/2(1+2) = 6/2*3 = 3*3 = 9

Honestly thought it was 1, I didn't know you did multiplication/division depending on which comes first from left to right. I went to public school.

Then Multiplication.

Then Division.

Y'all brehs are doing the multiplication before the division because it's peMDas.
When really, you do whichever of those two comes first starting from left to right.

1. 6/2(1+2)

2. 6/2(3)

since the division comes before the multiplication from left to right, you do that first.

3. 3(3) = 9

It's not brehs fault. America's just fukking at teaching. It wants civilians undereducated because that makes it easier to sell them shyt they don't need, etc. etc.

I voted 1 but after looking over it again it is 9. I forgot that multiplication and division are equal and you have to move from left to right.
