But can't it be
6/2(1+2)
6/2(3)
6/6
1
6/2(3) this is where we are fukking up.
Visualize it as
(6/2)(3)
And you'll get the right answer
But can't it be
6/2(1+2)
6/2(3)
6/6
1
So, is the answer 1 or 9?
The way I worked the problem is that I completely cancel out the parentheses. Working the addition problem in the parentheses doesn't completely cancel out the parentheses. The way I was taught is that anything in brackets or parentheses is worked first, so I'm in the group that thinks the solution to this mathematical equation is 1.
Please excuse my dear aunt sam
Who the fukk is Sam?
Her name is Sally
I put it in 2 calculators and got 2 answers...
That's how I was taught.Reposted from another thread.....

6/2(1+2). We do the Parentheses first.
Simplifies to 6/2(3)
Then Multiplication.
Simplifies to 6/6.
Then Division.
Simplifies to 1.
Its 1.
"Rule 1: First perform any calculations inside parentheses.6/2(1+2)
