Ball and G are legends in Memphis and everyone who has been mentioned in this thread will tell you the same.

They always repped their hood (Orange Mound) instead of Memphis as a whole.

Gotti and 3-6 beef has nothing to do with rap.

And for those who don't know....Lord Infamous and Playa Fly are the 2 best spitters to come out of Memphis.
ok, On the Gotti and 3-6 part , I said I didn't know any back stories, I just mentioned the first time Gotti dissed on wax. Never said they weren't legends in Memphis, But as far as bringing national spotlight to the city how does all of the credit not goto 3-6 Mafia? Did 8ball and MJG hold the relevence that 3-6,Prophet/HCP had for as long as they did?

And if you are easily amused by fast rapping and rapping about some of the most heinous of things then yes Lord Infamous is up there, to me his "coolness" wore off in about 5 min same with Koop

MJG back in the day> Lord Infamous his whole career, and yes Playa Fly was good Too.

While I agree , that as far a rapping and lyric wise Ball n G are the best to come out of Memphis in that aspect, I can't agree that they are the "kings" or best thing, imo they did nothing to bring any kind of national spot light to the city, and let's face it these 2 dudes are probably in their earley forties and are still getting passed around label to label.

The way their career is going wouldn't be suprising if they were to sign to young money/cash money records.

I gotcha no doubt, I kind of disagree on the national spot light thing. I didnt know memphis had any hiphop until they dropped/debuted, and i'm all the way in Detroit. I was a fan instantly. I know cats all over the US that know/knew about them, cant say the same about Yo Gotti and some of the other cats spoke in this thread. The fact is they are still relevant doing shows, and putting out material after 20 or so years in the game.

who was bigger in memphis? 3-6 mafia or 8ball & mjg? when it comes to national notoriety, 3-6 takes it by far and put memphis on the map.
