i don't think that's what held this up. they could have found him guilty and sentenced to life or they could have found him guilty of a lesser charge and there would have been no death penalty phase.
prosecution was weak.

they don't have to do what the prosecution wants. i just watched a trial where a cop killed his side chick and baby, slit his baby throat to evade child support. they didn't give him the chair.
This has to be the dumbest collective jury I’ve ever seen. When I saw that one of them asked for a playback of “Courtney Southerland’s” testimony, a person who not only didn’t testify but doesn’t even exist, I knew it wasn’t looking good.
