I wouldn't underestimate the stubbornness of these prosecutors. They'll try it as many times as it takes to get a verdictthe other guy is up for trial, i assume before they cant get around to trying melly again. depending on how that goes..... if he isn't found guilty and doesn't say something that incriminates melly (which he hasn't in 4 years now), i doubt they will try melly again.

i don't think that's what held this up. they could have found him guilty and sentenced to life or they could have found him guilty of a lesser charge and there would have been no death penalty phase.
prosecution was weak.
I think prosecution and everyone have been clear about wanting the death penalty.
But we'll see
