Literally the best album I heard all year. This feels like the type of album Kendrick wanted to make, you can feel the authenticity in the lyrics and the message without the extras.

I been saying this about Kendrick & why I prefer his west coast counter part rappers of this gen to him. His music to me just lacks that soul. Like it's so well thoughtout cultivated & aimed to be marketed as conscious & deep but lacks soul behind it, no matter how many Jazz & soul samples & shyt he wants to use to cover up his own lack of it

It's why I'd rather listen to YG and cats like G Herbo, Kodak, Vince to get the same shyt Kendrick aims to get across because they can do it affectively without all the extras and compromising the natural soul behind it and still delivering. It's like Kendrick relies on that god awful voice infliction shyt he's to overcompensate.. I just can't get it into it all.

Like To me, there's a clear difference of soul within Vince compared any Kendrick song I've heard :manny:

No Kendrick wanted to go into the minds of the people not just document the actions.
Highest reviewed album was a result, and labelled classic by everyone so I don't really think he "wanted" to make anything else :what:

Completely different albums from different point of views and intelligence levels. Just cause you rap about the hoods of Cali doesn't mean that you are aiming for the same thing. That would mean that Jay-z, Talib Kweli, Troy Ave and Joey Badass would be the same type of rappers. Instead of just relaxing and appreciating, people work overtime to try to label people in to boxes, preferably the same box.

Are we talking about GKMC? Never heard a person with an above average IQ, with a position in music, or who makes good music not call it a classic. If Not I don't know how the hell anyone could compare this to TPAB, that's even worse. Showing that dudes didn't understand the album at all.

Although TPAB was by nearly if not every respected (and non-respected) person in music too.

I could care less about what a random person on this site says, this site has no weight or even close to having a sense on what the general opinion on music is.

this album is so cohesive , it just flows so well from song to song ... not lyrically anything special but that vintage (updated) westcoast sound is dope... mustard would have been cool but not really necessary since the production still works...YG keeping that gangsta rap alive and I even can respect his more political tracks since I never would expect that from him ....

accurate.

Like kamasi washington said, its like kednrick made music for those with a vast musical knowledge...because once you have that knowledge, then you understand why its flawless music from a pure objective standpoint. Thats also why tpab is now the highest rated rap album of all time... you just can't find any flaw in that album

yg is ok, but doesn't know how to make great music from a pure objective standpoint
