what makes it even worse is that the steelers got multiple picks when they traded kenny pickens. fields should have commanded a comparable amount of draft capital.

but the bears essentially gave him away for free.

People are focusing too much on the Justin trade, and what the Bears didn’t get for him. They had no leverage against other teams. The whole nfl knew they weren’t planning on keeping him on the roster. You gotta give Poles credit for getting Moore and Caleb for Bryce Young. If Caleb is what the experts say he can be, that’s the best trade I’ve witnessed for the Bears. Carolina would’ve won the same amount of games if they didn’t do that trade with the Bears.

The quicker they moved on from Fields, the better it is everybody, including Justin. They could’ve waited until draft day and probably got more for Justin in a package deal. Poles did him a favor because they know he came to the Bears as a rookie and a 2nd year player in a horrible situation.

If Caleb comes out to be the next star qb as they predict, no one will remember whatever happened with fields and the return for him. Great moves is why we have the 1st pick now at some point you have to give poles the benefit of the doubt. If we didn't pick up swift and Allen etc then the return for fields would have been important but some are acting as if we somehow hindered our future because we couldn't get a haul for fields. We have probably set up a situation for Caleb better than any rookie qb in the past 2 decades. This return for fields angle feels like fake outrage and hot takes for views. I can't even take it that seriously. Teams opted to go with other qbs rather then fields, the return was never going to be a haul AND getting fields in a good situation.
