How many more collapses from Flus as time winds down will it take to recognize that problem? I'm not blaming the D as the root cause of loss, of course not. It is the utilization of the defense as the game ends. Flacco had 200 yards in the 4th alone out of 375, each scoring drive was less than 10 plays and each drive took less than 2:30min to score. Flus is loosening the laces after 3 quarters repeatedly, and he isn't adjusting to it causing losses. What's the stat, something like 48-7 in points scored in the 4th for the year?

We know Getsy calls it like he wants to be fired. It is already an uphill battle. I think Fields did fine taking what the D was producing and helped to keep the Bears in front. Offensive playcalling often keeps them off the Field because Getsy just wants to run the clock out in an ineffective manner.

This like the 5th time this season defense has looked like the best defense im the L for 88% of the game and then completely falls apart. Once is a anomaly, twice is concerning. Anything more than that its directly on the coach.

Yeah the D is playing great for a majority of the game but I fail to see how another competent d coordinator couldnt have this team doing the same next year anyway. Flus n getsy gots to go. This was an important litmus test and its obvious them nikkas are just have 0 feel for how to call a complete game

I BEEN FUKKING SAYING THIS SHYT FOR YEARS I think the greatness of Tom Brady prime years got people thinking it’s Normal for a QB to cook with :trash: receivers and a suspect OC and even Brady left New England because of years of carrying the patriots and not having weapons

They gotta get Mooney the fukk up out of here next year. I wouldnt even trust him as a slot.

Now the hoe ass panthers want to win lol. Well if we miss out on getting Williams MHJ and new coach is fine :yeshrug:

Nah, the defense wouldn't be in that position if the offense just got FGs and wasn't going 3 and out on consecutive possessions

3 INTs, basically 2 pick 6s. Yes, the defense gave up the game winning drive, but it's hard to shut down teams for an entire game.

I don’t think it’s the fact that they weren’t able to shut them down the entire game. It was how quickly they scored. If they’re gonna march down the field, make them do it methodically and not give up the big play. Same thing happened against Denver and Detroit. The pass to Amari Cooper was a missed tackle ran in for a TD.

The offense is expectedly pedestrian, but was capable enough to endure the top ranked defense and led the game by multiple scores (incl. stats wise I believe?) into the final quarter. If anything the offense performed better than expected despite Getsy sabotage attempts.

Nobody expects a whole game shutdown from these Bears, but an apt level of consistency should be expected from decent coaching. All that defensive goodwill was undone in about 5 minutes of 4th Quarter play. Not even a drawn out loss, but multiple quick scoring drives happened in short succession.

They didn't just give up the game winning drive, they gave up the comeback in 1\3 the quarter time because Flus coaches like a youth league when the game is winding down. The Browns only had about 50 seconds Time of Possession more than the Bears for the quarter and the same amount of drive attempts.

We have too many games to look to for the soft defensive coaching costing leads but let's keep the finger pointed to the offense here for the late collapse? This notoriously, poorly schemed offense? Against the #1 Defense? :skip:

how could you possibly watch that game and walk away finger pointing at the defense while absolving the offense?

So. Cal
This is where Im at.

At worst, new qb only has to be as good as fields has been so far. Which…wouldnt take a herculean effort at all
Just draft a QB at 1, sit him and develop him behind Fields. If Fields is that bad after his 4th year, at least u have Caleb or whoever as insurance and u didnt just toss him into the fire his first year.

The heights
I didnt even see this play live. Ghatdman Mooney actually pushed him into Fields. Its a first down run if Mooney actually gave ZERO effort.

That’s what I was telling @CHICAGO and @J-MIL they criticize Eberflus for not taking a field goal but if Mooney gives any effort to make a block the bears win the game this was the play of the game IMO

That was a walk in TD.

Terrible game all around. I really wouldn't be shocked if they do run it back with Justin on account of they really need to see if what this team does with non idiots as coaches. MHJ 1, best available OT with our pick fukk it. Tua looked like a bust till poindexter got to Miami.

But I wouldn't really care if they moved off him either. hopefully CAR doesn't start inexplicably winning these last few games :francis:

they got jags n packers those should def be losses but you never know.

they should be but 8-6, but 'good' teams dont give away games like this - its a reflection of the team that they lost those games. they wouldnt be ready for a playoff matchup right now

there is a lot of good talent around this roster and plenty to build going into 2024 - we need to be ready to compete next season

this effort level is not acceptable when playoffs were literally on the line, no excuse here
