You gotta be a dumb muthafukka to listen to Umi Says and think that is in any way hypocritical. I saw Drake post that dumb shyt and now his followers running with it.

Yes Drake is shining his light for the world to see, but his light happens to be pop. That doesn't change anything Mos said at all.

Umi Says is not a pop record

Shocking u calling me dumb :what:

You clearly didn't relate 2 umi says n the whole msg went over your head.

Try again dawg.

Everything Drake got, he got from a country he don't even come from, including the slang

Bruh thought nikka had an hard er

There's video evidence

Dude is not hip hop

He is a product

THIS HERE!

Dude's whole career was/is manufactured in conference rooms by execs and people who don’t even come from the places he steals all of his slang and "style" from. He's the perfect example of a pop artist who doesn't exist without the constant investment of major labels and corporate backing. It's really a joke. Nothing about that dude is Hip Hop.

He's Bruno Mars with cornrows and a beard.

Drake is corny as shyt but Mos need to come with some fire or be active for his critique to really stick. Nikkas gotta be active to talk.. At least KRS is still active so he can bark. Mos aint drop a solo joint in almost 20 years.. Say this shyt in the booth. At least thats how Common did it with Sweet

They asked him a question and he answered it. It's not like he was just solo doing a live and started going at Drake. He was being interviewed.

The only reason this has blown up is because alot of folks can see the validity of his reply.

His answer struck a chord with alot of people.

Notice how none of these nikkas say Drake can't rap tho. That's why I look at all this shyt said about him as just hatin shyt. Like Drake won't get on a track with Mos Def right now and body him right now. And I like Mos Def, but he just needs to stfu.

It is sad at how there are rap fans and there are true hip hop fans. People who like rap and people who live their daily lifestyle a hip hop cultural lifestyle. Yasiin bey aka Mos Def been one of the purist hip hop artists that we have. From an artistic standpoint, he embodies everything that is pure about the culture. The four main principles: Peace, Unity, Love, and Having fun. He's exercises progression and knowledge for the masses while providing the competitive bravado of a natural MC, One thing that'll be NEVER in debate is whether or not Yasiin bey is HIP HOP. He made that plain in his song Rock & Roll nearly 25 years ago that "I AM HIP HOP" while speaking about the same thing he saying in regards of Drake NOW and I applaud him for keeping that energy in identifying who's the real from the fake when it comes to hip hop culture. Who is living the culture or who are the actual vultures spreading emptiness, soulless, non-progressive music to a society that is on the brink of self-destruction.

If you are Drake fans, there's nothing wrong with that. Like who you like. But if a certified respected country artist was asked whether Taylor Swift was country, and they said, "No. She's pop. Her music is good for shopping," NOBODY THAT LIVES A COUNTRY LIFESTYLE WOULD ARGUE THAT BECAUSE IT IS FACTS. But rap fans want to claim Drake is hip hop despite clearly making POP MUSIC. He just so happens to rap and sing, but his music isn't what defines hip hop at all. It's not just because he raps, or his beats or anything of that nature. It is SAFE. It lacks personality. A message. A soul. It's why people complain that Drake lacking artistic growth, because he bases everything off algorithms and trends and follow what's the latest vibe. He doesn't do anything that is challenging, or innovative, or emotional. And hip hop music, not rap music, but HIP HOP MUSIC embodies all of that.

If you can come up with an hour of this you can get a Netflix special. Funniest thing I've heard all day :mjlol:

People still listening to this fake deep babble? I didn’t know what this was all about until I heard the clips on the JBP.

These dudes get off (pause) on sounding smart to dumb people. Same hustle since the late 80s and 90s.
Bruh you got a low bar for deep

What he said was simple to understand

And true!

I seen a few clips of this interview and it's amazing this is the one thing(it seems like he didn't dwell on the subject long)that everyone is talking about.
He was speaking on some real shyt when it comes to this country and how history repeats itself.
He was dropping gems and this is the foolishness that goes viral.
