Hal & the Yanks are just trying to spend their money in the right places.

Like me, for example, before i make a big purchase, i examine the shyt a bunch of times & wonder if it's really worth my money and how it'll affect my money (and the team, in this case) in the long run.

The key will be re-signing Cano, moving Granderson (while getting some HRs in return), and staying above float because the market is down right now. So, no need to make anymore shytty investments. Enough of that.

you act like theres smthg wrong with that. this team could have a 300 mill payroll and still be caking. i wanted hamilton we needed a young bat. its not about amount of money its percentage of revenue. the yanks dont even spend half their revenue on the team anymore, the tigers spend 78 percent. Hal has changed the entire culture of the team cause he dont give a shyt but wants to charge way more money than his father ever did and at the same time spend way less of revenue percentage on the team

Illitch :blessed:

Fair enough but if that's what got you to the dance we stop now there farm has really no top prospects ... But I think the point of the thread is Hal looks to be focus on making money more than winning why all of sudden would they have to decrease payroll if there still ranking in cash

And why cashman is still there is beyond sense

Until A Rod and Tex are off the books, they're not going to be spending a bunch of money. I don't know how the fukk The Rangers sign AJ Pierzynski for one year $8MM and The Yankees didn't do shyt. WTFmom is crying about The Yankees not overspending for overrated free agents. All I know is that Cano better not get 10 years $200MM because that would be a bigger albatross of a contract than A Rod's.

I for one support the yanks taking a step back and letting the roster sort of bleed out out, in order for the organization to rebuild. The yankees of the past decade or so have become obnoxiously bloated, and fulfilled the criticism that they are a mercenary organization that tries to buy their way to the top every year. They Yankees rose with farm talent (Jeter, Mo Rivera, Bernie Williams, etc) surrounded by hard nosed, kick a$$ veterans (Charlie Hayes, Brosius, Tino, Joe Giradi, etc). Once that team started to age, the Yankees just started buying the top free agents, haphazardly. They spent a lot of money with that strategy and had little success. Now that roster has topped out --- there are no quick fixes. I want the yanks to go back to be a team, rather than a roster full of diminished all-stars. The Yankees have been hard to root for lately.

:heh: @ Hal wanting to make more money through "cutting" payroll when they just sold 49% of YES for $2 BILLION.

it's about not spending more than you need to, not paying a penalty for no reason & more like standardizing the payroll.

get with it, breh. :smugdraper:

That's not true at all. They have really good prospects. They just don't have many MLB ready ones. Their best players are in AA or lower.

If the team doesn't want to get penalized at the MLB Draft, then they have to keep the payroll down under $189l. The Dodgers and Angels don't care because they don't need the prospects. They've set their team up long term already.

Why so Hamilton could suck in the postseason just like he did down the stretch with the Rangers?

You keep bringing up percentage of revenue as if this is even about that. $189 mil is a threshold MLB set up in the new CBA, NOT the Yankees. The amount of money you can spend in a MLB Draft was set up by MLB, NOT the Yankees. In spite of all that, the only two teams outspending them are the Dodgers and Angels, two teams that didn't make the postseason last year AND spent wild amounts of money that will burn them later. The Yankees spending BELOW $189 mil is not the Yankees being cheap. It's about avoiding financial penalties that can also impact their ability to draft prospects that this team needs to go forward. Take a look around. The teams that would have otherwise not been able to keep their players are signing them now. The Yankees can't just pounce on those squads for their players the same way they used to. The Yankees gotta utilize the draft more. You can't really do that as well as you would like by being a repeat offender of the tax.

and just so everybody, wtfyomom dikkrides Hank even though he's the reason why the Yankees have to cut so many corners just to get under $189. The Yankees could spend $188.8 mil and you'd think it's cheap. If they can't win spending that much then they don't deserve to win.

Im facing some money issues in my 4th year playing fantasy w/ the Yankees in MLB the show 2008.

Arod is a free agent after this year so I plan on signing him to a 3 year deal, but after next year I will have David Wright, Felix Hernandez, Cano, Votto & Hamilton all free agents along with some other key players. Im more than likely going to sign Felix, Votto, and Cano and have to let Hamilton and Wright go due to money
