Pippen fell off after 98. There are stats and accolades proving that.
Pippen was past his prime ring chasing in Houston and Portland. Payton didn't ring chase until 03-04 season because he was getting you 20 pt and nearly 9 ast per game. In the year 2000 he even averaged more rebounds than Pippen in Portland.
For majority of Pippens tenure in Portland he was averaging about 10 points.
If a GM traded 20 ppg point guard for an older SF with 10ppg, that GM would be fired the same day.
I remember some announcer trying to make the argument once that the Bulls had the two best all around players in the NBA but even rooting for them i couldn't agree with that. Not with cats like Robinson Dream and Barkley out there. Pippen was great in his role and for what the Bulls needed and he was somewhere in the top 10 for most of the 90's. But again with Mike David Hakeem Chuck Ewing Malone etc. he might have had an ARGUMENT for top 5 but it for sure wasn't set in stone.

Nah, im a huge Pippen fan. I just watched the game back then. The only time you could argue Pippen was a top 5 player was the immediate season after Jordan left where he was a legit MVP candidate. He never played at that level again.
