Nj.com got rid of their comment section a few months ago. Everybody showed their ass in that final article announcing the change. That was another poppin flamewar battleground. End of an era:wow:

I never warred with other posters in comment sections but I did like to get @ the writer of the article in there. I would flame Mike Lupica of the NY Daily News every chance I got until they ditched their comment section. lol

Yahoo comments section was at times too extreme and stereotypical to be believable. I don't know how many bots and fake accounts permeated those comments, but it was by far the worst section readily accessible to the public.

Shyt made TLR look like a stroll down Sesame Street.

Bushing that shyt is absolutely the correct thing to do. People are acting like the comments on articles, videos, etc aren't just as much as a draw sometimes (if not more) than the actual content itself. Comments by nature influence your perception of the content being consumed. Allowing that filth to exist and fester was akin to promoting propaganda.
Almost every website is like that. But there are still software bootleggers on here that cape

My point still stands that he's in favor of aore restricted internet.

And I'm not convinced that loud "trolls" in the comment section is worse than no comment section.
His point stands. Unmoderated comment sections are cancer filled with undesirable elements like conspiracy theorists, racists, and most important in the eyes of site admins, pedos. The latter is why Youtube bushed its comment sections on video game, toy, and cartoon content. Its got to the point where its only trolls. Some sites fixed the problem by limiting comments to paid subscribers.

I think some of these sites are bushing their comment sections because it exposes the audience that these sites attract. The Federalist for example. They try to say how they aren't racist, but their most dedicated readers/commenters sure as hell are. They lose plausible deniability.

It was about time because the comment section was pretty much the "shyt on black people" section. Most times it didn't even matter the topic or the article. It would usually revert back to racist shyt nonstop in droves. I get some people wanting to see what the world/USA actually thinks of them but that place was vile and over the top

I have a soft spot for yahoo as they gave me my first free email address that I still use. and they had a superior email interface until they changed it to be more like gmail, big mistake. And yes, going there for mail I do read the headlines and click on any article of interest while there.
I still have my yahoo email account I made when I was in high school back in 2000.

Pretty much any site with a comment section is racist cac heaven. I think I've even seen them in the cbs sports section:hhh::upsetfavre:
I've seen parenting websites online turn into racist shytshows in the comment section.

It's white people...they can't help themselves.

I don't think you can fault yahoo news for other people's silly comments, it's a user generated forum.

People need to know where we are as a society, where we as a people stand, closing down these things does not help that.

Internet comments on news articles and columns are not "where we are as a society". I don't know why people keep making these arguments.

The average person is neither reading nor taking the time out of their day to comment on a Yahoo article.
