i've listened to their first 3 albums over and over and over. i liked the debut the best for the longest, but i think HHNF can't be denied as their best. it's the most cohesive, they have some of their best verses on it (especially malice), and the neptunes were on some NEXT shyt with the beats

No doubt! I remember I was actually in a 28 day rehab and one of the staff brought in a XXL on like my 20th day and was like, Clipse got a XXL! I was all like :ohhh::damn: I can't wait to get the fukk out of here and pick that album up!

Then it got pushed back to November and I had to wait...:birdman:

Anyways the day I got out the best albums I could find that had been released while I was gone were Lupe's Food & Liquor and Banks' Rotten Apple. At least I went 1 for 2. :ehh:

I didn't really like Trill, I thought that was the weakest song on there. Best Clipse album to me. Neptunes best body of work ever too. Experimental and dark.

Lol at a kanye west album receiving a perfect rating.

The one thing I'll give Kanye is that his albums are definitely event albums, and those are always fun. It always is cool to sit down for the first time and hit play on some, "Let's see what he did this time"

I might agree that he might not have a genuine perfect album, but compared to the other albums that have gotten XXL or 5 Mics, he should have at least one too, strictly based on politics.

That fukker is consistent though. He's never made a rap album under 4 Mics. 808s never happened, fukk it.

shyt is it bad that Late Registration is my least favorite Kanye rap album? Like I love a lot of songs on there, but I wasn't enjoying the Jon Brion co-production all over there. I thought it was over-produced, and forced. To quote Family Guy, "It insists on itself" lol. I liked Graduation more than LR. It was refreshing to have no skits on Graduation. Good blend of old Kanye (Champion, Glory, Everything I Am) and new Kanye (I Wonder, Stronger, Flashing Lights, etc.)

EDIT: Where the hell is Good Ass Job?

that slim thug joint (wamp wamp) is so doodoo to me i used to fukkin eject the cd when it came on rather than skip it :scusthov:

and tbh on lord willin, 'when the last time' and 'ma i dont love her' are also instant skips.

the third cd has the most replay value to me :yeshrug:

808's isnt a rap album imo...:yeshrug:

But MBDTF is musically just one of the best things ever as far as what we thought rap could do. The fact dude took some of the most amazing and recognizable voices and turned them into basically instruments...we got a prelude to that with how he used Jeezy on "can't tell me nothing". MBDTF was a tour-de-force fam....say what you want but it was just EPIC ASS MUSIC.

honestly, only a few people i know of really dislike Kanye the ARTIST...they dislike Kanye the person...

I agree on 808s. I was saying the same thing.

I also agree on MBDTF. I was comparing Graduation to Late Registration. I didn't say anything about MBDTF. Fantastic album.

I prefer LR to Graduation simply because it was the point were Kanye's rhymes finally caught up to his beats. Its the most quintessential sophomore drop since "It Was Written"...

Graduation was mad experimental and i liked it just as much...idk Late Registration gets more love from me cuz it comes off as more personal and hip-hop. MBDTF is like the blending of 808's mood, LR rhymes, Graduation production and College Dropout bravado...

This is a solid ass post. I absolutely agree it's probably the best sophmore album from a major artist, ever.
