thats only broadband homie. its nikkas still out there running dial-up in 2013 :scusthov: as cheap as it can be, an alarming # of ppl cant afford broadband

:stopitslime: then they can't afford a 400-600 console either.

Clear mobile 4g is $40 a month. If you can't afford that then you shouldn't be playing video games.

From a consumer standpoint, there's almost no point.

I agree, unless you can find the games on disc for cheaper

After you install the disc on the HDD will you be able to play it without the disc?

I guess that's what all the online DRM is for. you need something to stop people from just installing the game onto several consoles from one disc. making you have the disc in the tray was their old way. in general the DRM was client side, but that allows people to get around it by modding the hardware

it's also a different system, in that the game won't play off the disc, period. it's like PC's where you have to install it. ultimately that's a good thing, since the data rates and whatnot are way better with a HDD. a lot of stuff they're trying to do (the actual gaming stuff, not this DRM crap) would probably be held back by optical discs

There's also the fact that games are huge. It may take some people a day or two to download them. Going to the store is a better option for a lot of people.

I understand that MS is trying to control their piece of the console marketplace completely. it's a business and their trying to capture all the monies...

But what I don't understand how much of this ever made it out of the boardroom. How are they anticipating this to actually go over the informed gamer? Sure, there will be plenty of people who aren't informed and will buy it, but beyond that??

If Sony is smart, they are listening to this Xbone (LOL!) bashing and making certain that they aren't falling into these same traps.

MS will kill off this system if they carry through with this as it is currently being presented. I can't believe that no one in their meetings hasn't stated the obvious that this is a business killer and (as is) will destroy the brand they've built...

plus people with download limits and shyt

personally as a Steam user, with decent internet and no limits, I greatly prefer the advantages of digital downloads

Yeah for me. Day 1 downloads kill all the nonsense about trading/lending games. I'm probably gonna have all digital titles anyway:manny:

24 hour DRM
1 hour DRM if not using home console
No game rentals
Used games determined by publisher, participating retailers only
Can lend a game to a friend who has been on your friends list for at least 30 days, and can only lend it once
You're still paying to use your own internet

Why are people defending this again?

:yeshrug: I seriously am befuddled at the this shyt. What's worse is the people that's making excuses on why this is fine knowing damn well they're in the minority. There's nothing wrong with a choice, but there's no choice here. There's no immediate benefit to any of this.
There's really no point in logging into someone elses xbone with your login except for a brief preview. It's actually better to just bring your whole damn xbone over :stopitslime:

No game rentals means these cats that's A-OK with this won't have problems paying full price for short ass games. They don't care that they can give away their game forever to one friend because once they beat it, they're done with it. :stopitslime:
This shyt is fukking disgusting. :stopitslime: Like I'm literally disgusted.

PS4's Used Game DRM Canceled?

they wont have DRM on a system level. So you can play your games offline whenever the hell you want. Dont have to sign in at all. So single player game and single player components are all playable outside the internet. And since the console doesnt require internet, you will likely be able to trade and sell games, since there is no online authentication system to check up on you.
