This is a copout. Imagine still bringing this up in 2023 to excuse the many shytty decisions of the current top brass at Xbox, most of whom have been around since the start of the 360 era. Yeah, sure, Mattrick turned them into a meme, but memes can be overcome if your product is dope. In an alternate timeline where the Xbox One reveal went spectacularly, they still would have found a way to sink the brand eventually.What happened its not hard to understand, go back to march 21, 2013. That Don Marttrick presentation killed the brand. and to add, the stupid idea of of policy about used games and when asked about the always online, is answer was "remember guys if you don't have Internet we have a product for you, It's called Xbox 360."
From that point, sony got the game on their side. Im sure they even did a short video mocking xbox about the used games. lol

They want Xbox ran like Windows/MS Office in scope - as in you just need to have it off merit and money prints itself no matter how awful it becomes. The VG industry works completely different. You can't just continuously drop trash and survive unless you're the only one.
To turn it around, they just need to stop letting slops like Bonnie Ross patronage their way into running the teams when they are the worst candidates for that position. All that cash behind the studios and they drops duds like Infinite, Forza, Redfall, etc. Absolutely no excuse. Management needs to be lined up and pied in the face.
Instead, you got wishful stupidity like Spencer buying up Nintendo as a defining moment.
Its telling that they promoted everyone that has continued to run xbox like shyt over the last 10 years out of some weird loyalty rather than bring in fresh talent.
When Matt Booty head of xbox studios, that put out nothing but gears, forza, and halo for the past generation gets a huge promotion you know they don’t care.

I was telling when it all started. never said everything is mattricks fault but usually in this type of industry, the first impression is what stays forever lol or mostly of the times. In this case, caved a big hole.
And since MS wasn't happy with how much deep with was, they started making a whole lotta of bullshyt with their first party line-up. I'm Still mad about that Scalebound, possibly the best thing they got in hands during Xbox One early years and they still managed to kill that IP

I was reading the reddit thread about this topic and it was full of Europeans talking about how they never see Xbox ads anywhere, a lot of people have never even heard of the brand or what games are on it, and if they wanted to make Xbox accounts and buy something they needed to do it via gift cards from the UK or Germany since their local currencies weren't supported. Games having little to no localization, Starfield not even having Italian subs, etc. Completely the opposite of the PS side of things, basically. Aaron Greenberg's department not doing shyt but making corny tweets.
Also, speaking of Mattrick, many of them remember the whole push towards TV TV TV was apps that only existed in the US, no one outside the US would have been able to use those apps and features the X Box One was pushing.

ngl…I should’ve started off this gen limiting the xbox to exclusives…started doing so about a year ago or so tho

Keep in mind 360 had the advantage at the START of that generation.
They came out first....PS3 was later and more expensive....and it was very hard to develop games for.
Once publishers figured out how to work with PS3 architecture, then 360 began having RROD issues. PS3 had BlueRay while 360 had HD DVD.
Sony fumbled the bag at the start but even screwing up for 2 or 3 years, caught them at the end. That momentum carried them to PS4. Xbox1 had that "camera always on" issue and they've been stuck ever since.
M$ has the money to win a fight with Sony but you need a lot of other things to go right and they gotta find the right formula.
