How hard is it to make one dope console and have dope original games for it with all the money and computing power and they still fail...:dead: smfh they might as well never have brought zenimax

If it were really that easy to buy into gaming google, amazon, and apple would hav beeen had consoles :yeshrug:

MS should just jump head first into the modular console space, a base console that supports a maximum of 2 generations worth of cpu/gpu modules. They have nothing to lose so to speak and if successful could change the console space.

What would the price point for something like that be though? I mean in theory sure but idk you can just build a PC.

Man Microsoft fumbled this bag. Fighting the behemoth that was the PS3 to a draw (in North America anyways) was insanely impressive and they squandered ALL that momentum.

When the game plan become sitting around waiting for your biggest competitor to fail, it became a lost cause.

I feel like theres been so many opportunities where xbox could have stolen a lot of mindshare away from sony this generation and they did nothing. Even this year sony slack with big exclusives and Microsoft still ended up losing marketshare somehow. If they can’t gain ground on sony after an entire year with just Spider-Man and hardware drops, i don’t think theres anything left.

Starfield has come and went and now a ps5 pro and switch 2 is dropping next year and the 2nd half the generation is going to have sonys biggest studios dropping games again.

They did it because it will keep them in gaming, but probably not as a platform holder
They will probably go in on PC gaming and if anything drop Xbox consoles and leverage putting game pass on Sony or Nintendo.

This is what Microsoft truly wants if they were able to have gamepass on Sony and Nintendo best believe they not giving a fukk about they own console.

Yeah, I foresee them going the Epic/Steam route but i dont think gamepass can exist in its current form on other platforms that make money on full priced 3rd party games still.

Sony and nintendo also make a considerable amount of money with their own subscription services so it will be interesting. Feel like PC should be their primary target.

Back of the napkin numbers (ignoring architecture and production costs for now):

Base console - $499-$599
cpu/gpu module - standard ($149-$199), pro ($249-$299)
(5 years later) late gen cpu/gpu module - standard ($249-$299), pro ($349-$399)

  • standard "couch" gamers aren't interested in PC gaming
  • previous console pricing trends tell us the next generation consoles will be anywhere from $99-$149 more expensive than this generation
  • the late gen modules should be were console makers ideally start to recoup a lot of the original costs they had to eat in console production because this model avoids the development of mid-gen hardware. The late gen price point is also lower barrier of entry for someone invested in their platform without the need to buy completely new hardware.

They’d also have to only develop for one platform at that point, pc.
