I just moved to Colton, they just recently got time Warner in the area, before the only options were satellite Internet, which is useless for gaming.

And now time Warner is the only real option in the area

Honestly, if u moved to an area that does not have Internet then gaming should not be a focus of yours. It's like moving to a forest but concerned about the fluoride levels in the tap water.

Stop it breh. Do you know how long the Internet has been available. No way in hell you can sell that to anyone here if the place is as happening as u suggest and in they had a lack of Internet.

when the next gen systems come out the price of the old gen systems will drop anyway, so anyone who wants to play them old games can just cop one of them old systems. backwards compatibility really dont mean shyt

It may sound good to you, but one of the main problems with this is a lot of us may not have room for 4-5 systems near our TVs. Honestly, I only got room for one new system under my TV. BC helps save space. I got games on both systems that I plan to continue playing. I'm tired of all the negative press surrounding these new systems already :snoop:

personally I don't think either company will go 'all the way' with this stuff this generation. and I doubt one would do it without the other. I'm definitely not gonna lean one way or the other based on what rumors I feel have "died off"

I think people should think of reasons why it could work, because it could be better for them in the long run. that's my opinion as a pc gamer. as a consumer, I want what's gonna give me the best gaming experience. I don't want to be held back by people that still don't have internet
you're not being held back. if those people are needed to make a particular game worth its development budget, then you actually need those people. intentionally shrinking your market could be suicide for AAA games.

the majority of my steam use is for indie/out of print/or just plain obscure games. i still have PC games on disc, and will be getting practically everything else (bioshock infinite, etc) on disc as well. steam is extremely valuable to me because it is doing what retail cant, but retail still has a place with me. also, steam lets you play offline.

but these companies are thinking piracy, rentals, and used games are already hurting their AAA games. they may determine it's better to lose one market, in order to secure more actual sales in the long run. again, personally I don't think that's what's gonna happen

and Steam offline is an example of how people don't want to think about how this could work. I think people go too far with their literal interpretations of what (rumors of) "always online" means. time will tell...

yeah, they think that and they are free to tank their businesses by constantly finding new ways to punish paying consumers.

and they could do an offline play mode, but i wonder how certain publishers would appreciate that (EA, ubisoft, etc.) i could imagine they are lobbying hard right now to have consoles locked down like fort knox.

but as you say, time will tell...

both those companies have been through this already on the pc side with Origin and Uplay, and now both those programs offer offline play (after much backlash). both those companies have also had to deal with backlash from various obstructive DRM. again, a lot of these bridges have already been crossed

so far, the rumors about sony doing this have died off, and i think competitively, sony would rather let MS be the only one to do this and fail, and then in a future generation they may all go digital download only which would be the only tolerable way to do this level of extreme DRM. but the point is for right now, it is not a good time for them to do it since they are still selling games on discs, and i think sony has an incentive to not do it if MS is.

sony's problems were all self created, primarily around the cell processor, price of the console, and late launch. if their number crunchers are worth their pay, they will know that too.

why should people try to think of reasons why it could work?

Again, more misinformation by a blind Sony funboy. Read and weep nikka

Sony patents new anti-used game technology

If anything, its all but guaranteed this technology will be in the new PS4. Now Sony funboys will be forced to repurchase all their shytty PS3 games on the Sony playstore for the low low price of 39.99 each! :pachaha:

I cant stress enough how important BC will be for many gamers across the world; not only would we be willing to give up our old physical games... we would also be giving up all the XBL/SEN content(including DLC, Arcade games Downloadable games etc) we purchased as well.

seeing up-scaled versions of my old catalog is always a plus.

for the ps4 considering they dropped the cell, it seems unlikely any of your digital stuff would work. I cant get down with that
