ultimately it comes down to whatever decision they want to make. there's plenty of sucessful products out there that are pretty useless without internet access. try owning a computer in this day-and-age with no access to the internet

but there is no reason, from a consumer standpoint, for a console to get worse in the next generation if it doesnt have to. consumers wont tolerate that if they have options

what options will they have if both companies decide to do this? maybe wii-u will pick up some people, but most will 'bite the bullet' and continue to support sony and/or microsoft

these companies also have other factors to consider. they both had a rather rocky road this generation. I just assume that they have the numbers and the number crunchers looking into all this

I also think people are a little close minded about work-arounds and other solutions that might be available. basically everyone wants to point out why it could fail, instead of thinking about how it could work

U dont need the internet to access everything on a computer. ..depending on what a person is using it for...and thats besides the point...imagine if microsoft is doing maintenance or something..u cant even play ur game...that shyt is a nightmare even for people who have internet access...I hope they dont pull that shyt...

so far, the rumors about sony doing this have died off, and i think competitively, sony would rather let MS be the only one to do this and fail, and then in a future generation they may all go digital download only which would be the only tolerable way to do this level of extreme DRM. but the point is for right now, it is not a good time for them to do it since they are still selling games on discs, and i think sony has an incentive to not do it if MS is.

sony's problems were all self created, primarily around the cell processor, price of the console, and late launch. if their number crunchers are worth their pay, they will know that too.

why should people try to think of reasons why it could work?

No backwards compatibility. No internet no playing ANY GAMES on the system. Fee to play multiplayer games. No used games playable on the system. Camera watching you. Microphone recording your home. This isnt a gaming console this is a black box that plays video games.

System is Trash yall.

nikka Microsoft gonna shut down the game with this crack, :smugdraper:

I do :leon:
Damn, you guys seem to know everything about me. Mostly shyt I didn't even know myself.
Anyways, I have heard ppl say lame shyt like what you say. Then I say where?
And they usually run off at that point. but since you still here, where are these places lacking in high speed internet in america :stopitslime:
Fios is generally new, and I understand hasn't reached everywhere yet.
Fios isn't broadband standard. The xbox 1 used broadband. There was no Fios back then. DSL is everywhere. Or are you saying that some areas only have Dial-up :snoop:

Who the fukk would have Dial-up in 2013.. and then rock a PS4

nikka, you making up shyt. Stop that my nikka...

I just moved to Colton, they just recently got time Warner in the area, before the only options were satellite Internet, which is useless for gaming.

And now time Warner is the only real option in the area

personally I don't think either company will go 'all the way' with this stuff this generation. and I doubt one would do it without the other. I'm definitely not gonna lean one way or the other based on what rumors I feel have "died off"

I think people should think of reasons why it could work, because it could be better for them in the long run. that's my opinion as a pc gamer. as a consumer, I want what's gonna give me the best gaming experience. I don't want to be held back by people that still don't have internet

honestly i see many people doing this. The 360 is one of the BEST gaming platforms of all time and will likely enjoy continued popularity well into the life-cycle of the 720, ESPECIALLY if backwards compatibility is removed. I personally wont be buying if the backward compatibility issue is accurate.

Now if the PS4 lost backward compatibility i'm sure no one would give a damn, because no one bought a PS3 to play games anyways...:pachaha:
